I think we all have our comfort level ...I guess that's what's getting me - I'm UNcomfortable and it wouldn't be so bad as if it weren't for being hungry 24/7which I've never been....not like this at least :( so far ...the ideas are wonderful - we have Veggie Soup - Hebrew National Hotdogs - Low Cal Peanut Butter & Salad dressings....smoothies that sound really easy - then everyones tips & this is just what I was looking for...this thread has been really interesting and VERY helpful thank you !! Jenn - on the thyroid - I remember a long time ago (last time I saw a doctor for mine) reading sometimes our thyroid function can be blocked yet show normal on tests ? There's also something called 'Adrenal Function' which goes with Chronic Fatique Syndrome that you may want to read about....weight gain is a part of it - add hormones and it can wreak havoc on us - |

another email about womanhood 4 Attachment(s) Hee,hee..........ENJOY!!! Attachment 122529 The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today. Sometimes I think I understand everything, then I regain consciousness. I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting my pantyhose on fire. Attachment 122530 Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks two sizes! Attachment 122531 A friend of mine confused her Valium with her birth control pills. She had 14 kids, but she doesn't really care. The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then they marry him! I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are: eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That is my idea of a perfect day. Attachment 122532 |

that isn't taking the easy way out at all. I know they only do it for those who tried everything else and all I can say is if you can afford it and it'll work then WHY NOT go for it ?? I would !! Man - with all the elective surgeries out there - that's one that really IS life changing - You must feel really good now LOL JENN !!! Quote:

ok on a serious note, I started reading a book the other day called the PH miracle and it is supposed to not only be good to help you lose weight, but help you get your bad health back which I am in serious need of. I will let you know how it goes. The main thing it stresses is we arent fat, our bodies are acidic and that is what is making us fat and killing us too. It is very interesting and makes alot of sense but I am only on the second chapter so we will see. |
why would a HOTTIE like you need dieting :) |
I watch her show on PBS and I have her Water w/ Lemon book (very good) and her cookbook - she is all about measuring it, lower calories, eating right, but eating what you like, etc. She isn't strict, just gives you tons of good recipes and helpful tips. Her cookbook is full of yummy recipes AND tons of helpful tips, tricks, hints, etc. http://www.zonya.com/healthy_recipes.html go to the website and click on the Miracle Soup recipe. It makes a LOT, but freezes well (that's another thing she likes, make a lot of good stuff, freeze it and keep it on hand). I have made this numerous times and it is good!!! I have made other things too and so far, they have all been yummy and even my DH will eat them! (that's a HUGE plus) |

My sister once had a book called "eating for our blood type" or something like that. It is eating food that is on the list for your blood type. I glanced through it once, but never really read it....I need to see if she still has it. |
I definitely don't know much about breast reductions and insurance (because I certainly need the opposite!) but I know my best friend would do anything for a reduction. One day when/if you do have insurance, be sure and have the dr. document like crazy how much it bothers you. That's what she's working on right now. She can't even buy a bra off the rack..... she has to go to a specialty store. And V, thanks for the compliment but that hourglass shape can so quickly turn into a pear shape if I don't start watching it. I realize now what "they" have all been saying about age and your weight catching up with you! It would help if I could just exercise a little and tone some stuff up but I'm such a lazy bones by the time I get everything done around the house at night. You can do it! You've gotten some good tips here. Just don't do anything to jeopardize your general health. I knew a lady who's kid went to my kids' daycare who was taking one of those diet supplements years ago (that they have since taken off the market) who got in her car at the gym and had a stroke and died instantly. She was only in her early 30's maybe. They say it was caused by the diet pills she was taking. Sad thing was no one thought she even needed them. Be careful and do it right. |
OMG Angie !! Thats awful !! Was she taking Ephedra ?? Back before it was banned and I had first noticed I was gaining I used them - they really worked but man they were tough to sleep on. the upside is - I have lost 5 lbs already since starting this and all the posts in this thread are a huge help !... oh and Ang...I'm one of those "they" people just putting it out there - when women hit a certain age things DRASTICALLY change ! :D :D My advise is nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem |

You know, I have always been a string bean and it wasn't until recently that I started filling out a bit. Problem is still my arms are little sticks which make everyone comment on how skinny I am..... they aren't looking at the thighs and gut that could use some toning! :D Sounds like you're doing great! Sometimes it just takes some motivation and tips from others in the same situation. Good luck! |
No carbs after 6pm works wonders and stay away from sweets |

A muscle mass in the thyroid is odd! Did he maybe just compare your nodule to a muscle mass? Nodules are actually fairly common -- 50% of people will have one or more. Some are solid, some cystic, and some mixed. Most all are benign -- but I have heard of many folks with nodules being hard to diagnose for hypo or hyper-thyroidism. Sometimes these nodules can burst and give the person intermittant and irregularly dispersed spurts of thyroid hormone. That can play havoc with blood test results. Some antibodies can interfere with test results. Other hormones can affect thyroid levels too -- such as estrogen -- it may create more bound hormone. It is there, but it is not "free" for the body to use. Thyroid problems are not as easy to pin down as some would like us to believe. Lots of varibles. |
I just read about "The Healing Powers of Vinegar" by Cal Orey It says that apple cider vinegar had the power to ease anxiety, lift depression and boost weight loss. Okay, okay, I know apple cider vinegar diets have been around for awhile, but this seemed to show great results on the people that were studied. You can stir in 1 TBsp of apple cider vinegar into 8 oz water and drink one hour before meals. Use apple cider vinegar on your foods (chicken, tuna, salads, etc). And eat and snack on raw fruits and veggies and nuts in between meals. It says that it carbs cravings, as well as helps regulates blood sugar, plus many other things - like helps clear up acne and dandruff, etc. |
Another one I just read about.......... I read an article on "The Abs Diet" by David Zinczenko The basic plan is 1. Eat 6 times a day 2. Make flat-belly foods your staples 3. Skip belly-fattening foods 4. Use quickie workouts that work 1. It improves the levels of blood-sugar hormone insulin, which reduces belly fat and faster weight loss. An Australian study found dieters eating six meals lose double the fat of those getting the exact same calories from three meals. 2. Studies show that people who eat more good fat - from nuts, olive oil and fish - have smaller waists. Another study found that women who eat mostly fiber-rich carbs have the best waist to hip ratio. Also: plenty of lean protein has been found to double belly-fat loss. 3. Bad fats, red meats, alcohol and processed foods all cause hormonal changes linked to excess belly fat. 4. A University of Alabama study found that total body exercises get rid of more belly fat than ab exercises alone. Reason? Metabolism increases, triggering greater fat loss all over. Side note: Along with eating as this plan mentions, you should try for two 30min walks a week and use "The Abs Diet Workout" DVD three times per week. (the DVD is a mix of toning moves: crunches, push-ups, lunges, etc). **which I think you should do atleast 30 min of walking each day, if not more, but this only says twice a week** Also, it says that a University of Washington study shows that calcium helps female dieters shed 81% belly fat. |

i guess im gonna drink a whole bottle of that apple cider vinegar hope it works for me |
Have you heard of an energy drink called fuze? One bottle only has 10 calories and it keeps me full, so then I don't eat too much. It tastes really good too. It has some ingredient in there that helps with your metabolism. This is their website: http://www.drinkfuze.com/ If you go to the top left corner where it says products and then click slenderize, that's the one I'm talking about. |

What is GTA and where do you get it? |
OMG you look so good!! But if you don't feel good then do what you need to :) I agree with everyone here! hungry-girl is a great site, I love their daily emails. Also, the veggies are such a good idea, every Sunday I cut up a ton and keep them in snack size bags in the fridge so I can just grab them and snack. And water too, I have a hard time drinking a ton of water so I use the Crystal Light packs and that helps a lot. My mom is a lifetime Weight Watchers member and she LOVES it. She has shared all the materials with me and I started tracking everything I put in my mouth daily. Here is a good site with a ton of recipes and points: http://www.dwlz.com/ |

I get it from my chiropractor, but it's made by Biotics Research Corp. Does that help? |

Thanks for that info. I will have to look up the GTA supplement. I did go to an endocrinologist at first because my dermatologist recommended it and then two other doctors (my doctor and then another one). Aurgh...it is just aggravating to no end!!!:( |

Thanks....I need to get back on top of my health and see a doctor again. I just got a little discouraged there for awhile. I have all the symptoms, but have been doing some research and there are a few other things that have the same symptoms, so I think I will head to the doctor w/ a list of my symptoms and of all the other things it could be. If nothing else, I will tell them that I want to try some medication and just see if my symptoms improve. YUCK, I just hate dealing w/ the doctors after dealing w/ them for 2 years straight! I was honestly seeing a doctor once a month and some months I had to go in up to four times.....it does wear you down after awhile!!!:( |
