Go outside everytime you want one - that will cut you way back and it's better for Gypsy |

I'm quitting also, for the 3rd time:( What works for me is to change my brand, smoke only outside, and force myself to put the ciggy out after the first couple 'satisfying' puffs and then to save it and smoke it the next time. Since they don't taste 'fresh' the second time I think twice about really wanting one and find I cut down quickly and am able to wean myself off. Good luck - we can do this!! I'll be your cheerleader to wellness and you be mine:) |

My husband used welbutrin when he was quitting, and he said it made cigarettes taste bad and reduced the cravings. Chantix might be helpful also. He didn't use it because it wasn't out yet, but I've heard good things about it. Also, he would do something similar to Hokule'a...Smoke part of one, and then put it out, come back when he had a craving, and then the cigarette didn't taste good. He found the best way to reduce cravings was to breath in deeply a few times. Just regular air, no cigarettes involved. Just deep breaths. Good luck!! I believe you can do it, good for you! |
A friend of mine used stick candy. Made you feel like there is something in your hand, almost the same size (if you cut in half I guess) and you can put and hold in your mouth. |
Congrats on quitting! It is SOOO hard to do! I haven't smoked in about 3 months and this time I am not starting back up again, like I have before. The last time I quit I used drinking straws, just cut to the size of a cig, this helped me alot and I should have just stayed not smoking, but I didn't. This time, I quit cold turkey..it was rough, but I did it! It helps having something in my hands..to keep them busy. Just try to keep your mind occupied with other things...like cute yorkies and stuff, LOL. You can do it!! |
