Anyone w/naturally curly hair??? If any of you YT have naturally curly hair I am wondering what kind of styling product you use? I have been using Defining Elixer by Biolage. I use to get it on a big pump tub from about $20-$25 but now I can only get it on a 4.2oz for $10 and it is very hard to find. I am trying out other products and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions!!!! Thanks for your help! |
My hair is curly but only on the bottom...the top feathers back, the ends curl under and the rest just curls. I love my curly hair and I learned a long time ago to go with it instead of trying to fight it. I use Ausie moist shampoo/conditioner and a lightweight detangler or watered down conditioner (only left on long enough to comb through with a wide toothed comb) to remove any tangles from washing. If I use anything heavy my hair doesn't curl very nice and it won't hold the curl from a curling iron when I use it on the top. |
HI I am a Hair stylist And my hair is natually curly:) I love Matrix products I use the Biolage Gelée It is a great lite gel. you can get it here https://www.namebrandbeauty.com/prod...FQstWAodzCJ66g Really cheep 20.00 for a liter:) |
I have naturally curly hair - but not too curly, more like curly/wavey. My favorite product is by Got2B - it is called So Smooth Miracle Repair Treatment (it is a spray). It keeps the frizz at bay wonderfully!! Unfortunately, Got2B discontinued it and replaced it with a cream formula that isn't anywhere near as good. I buy it on Ebay for as long as I can find it!!! I then use the Got2B Curled-up Spray to help shape the curls without making the hair stiff!!! |
I just stick my finger in the electric socket - Zzzzzzzzzzzzz !!!!  it's hopeless After spending my whole life looking for that product that would take the curl out but not make me look like I'm wearing a fright wig.... I gave up. :D |
1 Attachment(s) To prove my point - check out the hair. It's longer now and changing since I hit 48 but still a nightmare....... Ps...that's my nosy Chanel sitting on my head spying on the neighbors - she loves to do that lol - |

mine is the same. i have coarse frizzy big hair. i use frizz-ease which has been the only product that has worked for me. i have tried all of the salon products and spent thousands on others. my hair is hopeless. my father has the MICHAEL BRADY (brady bunch) hair and my mother has the most beautiful curly silky hair. so i could not get away from curly hair. the new flat irons are the BOMB. but i only straighten my hair about 1 every two months. NOW IN THE 80'S I HAD THE BEST HAIR EVER. i cannot wait til that style comes back but i think i will be too old to wear it. |

Mine has grown some but I swear ...it gets TALL before long. It's just a never ending source of dislike for me - I love straight hair...people with straight hair can go curly - but us curlies have a hard time going straight (Lord that sounds perverted !!) lol |

omg yes, i was the afro girl. although when i was young, the mean kids would call me "brillo head" |
i have naturally curly hair...I have been through a million different products. For the past few years I have been using Pantene Pro-V Curl Defining Mousse. I also love the Got2B Freezing Hair spray. Both products work really well and seem to be the easiest on my very fragile hair. Not to mention the price is a lot less than salon brands. |
vilette, you hot mama!!!!!!!!!! !!!!1 |
I've always had naturally curly hair. The longer it gets, the curlier it gets. when its short is has deep waves. I use to want it to be straight when I was younger, nothing worked but I did win most beautiful hair in high school, so I suppose I shouldnt complain. they had a little paper come out every so often and they took votes before it printed on the most beautiful eyes, hair, teeth, smile etc. So I was happy. Now i've gotten older and wish my hair was still jet black and curly. now its white and cut short so its wavy as long as I keep it short. I know the feeling of wanting that long soft straight hair tho, just never knew how to get it. |
I have naturally curly hair. Mine's the opposite of some here, though. The shorter it goes, the curler it tends to get. Less weight, I guess. I use Redken Color Extend shampoo and Redken All Soft conditioner. For styling, I use Dove curl mouse and the new L'Oreal Curl spray gel. I've never liked spray gels because they usually caused frizz for me, but when they discontinued my L'Oreal Lasting Curls gel, I gave the spray gel a shot... and I love it!! It's great for reviving curls for an evening out as well. I also used the Pantene curl defining mousse. It works well, also. I am probably in the minority as far as wanting straight hair. I love my curly hair and have no desire to straighten it. I'm thrilled with the curlies God gave me! |
I have naturally curly hair too. I find that I need to change products every few months to keep it from looking weighed down :p Leave in conditioner is a must for me and the right hair cut. |
I have natural curl too, although not too many know ;) I am fortunate enough to easily straighten it with a flat iron or scruntch it up for curls. Today I am curly :D So I can change and I like that! I currently have been using TRESemme' styling products and Pantene Shampoos and Conditoners. I love being able to go either curly or straight so easily!!! |

I have HORRIBLY curly/frizzy/nasty hair. It's like thin and poofy and soooo gross. I bet I have tried 50 different products (and I'm only 20) and nothing works. My best bet is to spend an hour straightening it..ugh. OH, and I've had it "straightened" at the salon (like a reverse perm) THREE times and it's still nasty....oh well! |
I used to have thick, wavy dark hair and it was great. I always have had it layered because that works best with curls. My hair has changed though and it's straighter in some parts, not as thick and frizzes instead of waves. The good part though is that as I went grayer, I also went lighter in color and am now a blonde (and I do have more fun). I solve the whole hair problem by getting it blown out once a week. It's great because I really don't even have to comb it. I wear it long so I just run my fingers through. Of course, all of the coloring makes it dry enough that I can stretch it a week. I don't let them put any products in to keep it cleaner looking. |
Hi, My daughter has very curly hair:) I buy her Ouidad which is specifically for curly hair. It is a great product.. |
I use Aveda Be Curly and sometimes I add some liquid gel in with it to keep it tame. If it's humid then it's a hopeless cause and turns into a giant pouf ball. One of the best things you can do is get a really good conditioner. Curly hair tends to dry out. And do a deep conditioner every couple of weeks. It will definitely help the curl stay nice and frizz free. And if you're going swimming leave a regular conditioner in your hair, that way the damage from the sun, chlorine or salt, will be less. |

i have naturally curly hair. its ugly curls tho lol sometimes all will curl and sometimes half we be straight and half will curl lol. just depends what my hair feels like doing. so i gave up on the curls. i now straighten with my CHI iron and thats the only straitener that works without giving me static because my hair is very fine. when i did wear it curly tho i used catwalk mousse you can get it at salons and i used aussie scrunch spray(just a little tho).i also used a green spray from bedhead or got2be one of them for curls. |
1 Attachment(s) Just thought I would share my 4 year old picture. lol. and my hair just got curlier as I got older. it always looked shorter than it was because of the curls. I had this on my pc as I had made a screen saver with hubby and me and my kids from babies till the last few years. It was on my old computer and when it crashed I lost my screen saver but had some of the pictures i had burned to a disc but had never burned them all. wish i had now. |
1 Attachment(s) this was about 50 years later. lol. and now , its all white and so ugly. now i wish i could still just wash it and go or get up every morning and brush it and it looked the same. age does wonders for ya, makes ya wonder, "what the hell happened". lol well I do wash it and go still but it dont look nearly the same, not even the next day. grrrrrrrrrrrr. So ladies appreciate what you got while you got it. |
1 Attachment(s) I like this! Everyone needs to show pics of their curly hair. Curly hair is beautiful. :) Here's a family pic from Dec. 23rd last year... just one day before Riley! |

1 Attachment(s) My hair is naturally curly. I've used several products that I really like. I think one of my absolute favorites is Curl Friends. You can either get it from their website or Ulta sells there products. I've also use matrix and biolage as well. I've found some other less expensive items that work as well for me anyway that control the frizz. I live in the Atlanta area and that is very important to me. I have also used some Pantene products that I like as well. Good Luck in finding what is just right for you. Attached is a picture of me & Ethan just a few days ago at his 5th grad graduation. This will give you some idea of what my hair looks like. I've been going au natural for several years. I use to try to style it straight. Now, I don't even use a blow dryer. |
