BOXER moms and dads PLEASE READ! We have an elderly boxer -- Boo she is 11 years old this summer. She has started "slowing" down which we attributed to age. The other day she had an episode ..... she was confused, breathing hard and weak. We called the our vet who has a 24/7 emergency on call vet and was getting ready to take her in when she snapped out of it. The next day we took her in to her regular vet. An EKG and X-rays confirmed that she has a condition known as Boxer Dog Cardiomyopathy. She is now on heart medication. Her EKG looks like you gave a seriously mad monkey an ink pen and a piece of paper...... It was scribbles and more scribbles with only a few normal lines in between. Except for this heart issue, she is in GREAT health. Our dear sweet vet has told us that Boo has at best six months to a year with us. We are going to beat those odds..... Boo will live on FOREVER if not with us in person she will remain with us always in our hearts and our thoughts.:hearts-xx |
Oh I'm so sorry! But I believe that with your family rallying with her she will beat those odds!!!! |
I'm so sorry to hear about Boo's condition. That has to be hard on you knowing the prognosis isn't good. My son has a young boxer, still a pup. I was not aware of this condition, is it fairly common with boxers? |
So sorry to hear about Boo. I'll be praying that she beats those odds. My brother has a boxer and I remember someone mentioning that boxers are prone to heart conditions. I love boxers...they are such sweet dogs. Hope things turn out well for Boo |

Our vet said that Boo's EKG was the worst one she had ever seen :( so we are sitting on a time bomb. |
I have a friend with a Boxer and I passed this info to her. She has never heard of it and was really thankful to you for sharing this. Big Hugs to Boo~ |
