Jenny Craig Has anyone used the Jenny Craig program? How did it work for you? How fast (& how much) did you lose? How was the food, really? Did you keep the weight off once you stopped eating Jenny foods? Also, has anyone used the Jenny Craig Direct program (at-home), specifically? There aren't any centres near me at all so I'd have to do it this way... Thanks in advance for any info :) |
I used Jenny craig (at home program) and was successful. The main thing is that you HAVE to stay motivated which can be difficult at times. The first week, I lost 4 pounds. That's a nice change I think. The food tastes great but it's really expensive. Also, it's not "diet" food as many would think. It's regular everyday food that you can make yourself. The reason for the high cost is that it's all portioned for you and you also get a menu planner that shows you what to eat and when. Make sure no matter what type of weightloss program you choose, you HAVE to exercise. I was doing 30 minutes of cardio everyday. The cardio helps you burn fat and calories while the small frequent meals help you speed up your metabolism. It's a very convenient program but it's so pricey. I spent over $300 for 1 month of food. That's insane. With $300 I can supplies groceries for my entire household for a full month. Good luck with whatever you choose :) |

Thanks for all the info! I lost over 60lbs with Weight Watchers when I was young (13 I think) and I know that program works, but I just don't want to do it that way this time, for some unkown reason? And because of that I can't seem to stick to it. All this coming from a girl who wouldn't even lick a spoon without counting it. And I see all the commercials for Jenny Craig (yes, people, marketing actually works lol) and figure hey...that looks good! But, not sure I could spend $300+/month  and it would probably be more expensive in Canada... Hmmm....anyways, thanks for the info :) |

Things like salad with almonds and oranges. Or chicken breast with salsa. They're really yummy, easy to make and filling. Not to mention the low fat. |
You know, you can do a Jenny Craig type of diet by counting calories or WW points and using Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice, or Smart Ones for your pre-packaged meals. It's the same principle - the portions are right there for you. You will have to devise some sort of snacks - but it is the same principle and not so darned expensive. Now, if you want to take all the work out of it and just be given your meals, then Jenny is the way to go! My daughter lost 50 pounds on Jenny Craig - I lost 35 pounds on WW, using mostly the pre-packaged meals I mentioned above. I counted the points and ate the pre-packaged meals for lunch and dinner. I ate a regular (not prepackaged) breakfast and then ate air popped popcorn, low fat ice cream or something like that for snacks. Good luck! |
Thats a good idea to use those foods that are already prepackaged. DUH... makes since, doesn't it. lol Anyway good luck in what you decide. |
How about a weigh loss support group on here. I have NO will power and am continuously plauged by negative thoughts & opinions of myself b/c I am overweight and have ZERO self confidence. Would anyone be on board for this??? We could do a weekly weigh in here just like at a group |

I would!!!! |
Well... I guess as far as weigh in goes you could just not what weight loss amount was for those who are uncomfortable posting acutal weight |

Okay, I hope this is okay with Rusty's Momma since she's the one who had the idea in the first place...but, I set up an MSN group called "YT Losers!" complete with message boards so we don't clutter up the YT boards. Also, it'll be a little more "private" for the shy members. Anyways, here's the link http://groups.msn.com/YTLosers see you there ;) |

I went on JC and lost lots of weight. I got sick of the food, and went off. Gained all my weight back, plus. :( They DO teach you how to eat right off their food. I just got lazy. I'm paying for it now. I would recommend the program. |
I use Nutrisystem. It is also pre-packaged food. It starts out with a $300 cost but you get at least one and sometimes 2 free weeks of food. You can also use a Buddy Bucks coupon (I can send you one -- it is where you get $30 off your order and when you use it they send me a coupon for $30 off too). So, that helps a bit too. Going on automatic delivery saves more $$. After the 3rd order you get 15% off. Next month, I will probably go to the 5 day a week plan and have regular food on weekends. So, there are lots of ways to save money and still do these programs. I LOVE Nutrisystem! I have lost 32 pounds with the NS alone and had already lost 10 pounds before starting (using my old weight watcher's point system materials from home). NS is infinately easier as the meals are already there for you. If we go out, I usually just get a salad and either eat a NS entree before or after. If the guys have fast food, I just skip it and eat my own meals. I think about what I am saving every time they eat out -- that savings cuts from the actual cost of NS too. I figured I ate out at least $50-$100 a month, depending on how many times we went somewhere really nice and $$$. I also got to stop taking my metformin as my blood sugar came down naturally with weight loss and good nutrition. I was supposed to start back on cholesterol-lowering meds when I decided to do something about my weight. Those numbers are now good too. So, I am saving a lot in meds! I figure I have added YEARS to my life by getting rid of some of the tonage that was stressing my heart and other organs. That savings is ....well ... as the old M/C commercial would say ..... PRICELESS! No matter what plan you decide to use, best of luck to you! |

Thanks so much! That plan sounds great, I had never heard of it before? Must be living under a rock lol I'm going to check it out now! Thanks again! |
Way to go!!! |
I've never done Jenny Craig, but I am doing Weight Watchers and have lost 15 lbs in about a month and a half w/ it. I really like it, and usually there are meetings all over or you can do it online at home. I actually think the online part is having a free trial right now :) |

WW definitely is an excellent program!!! I got down to a size 4 on it before  Then back up to a size 8 (by choice, still following the program under supervision of my leaders) which I maintained for over 5 years. Now I'm an 18 - ugh! Congrats & good luck with the rest of your journey :) PS Do you use the WW message boards? They are fantastic! I was on there for 5 years, but I always stayed on the Newbie board...it's like another family there ;) |
Update: I've decided to do WW again because I'm familiar with the program and it's way cheaper lol Thanks to everyone for all the info!! |
