Tucker is adoriable! Hope you get to keep him!! |
2 Attachment(s) Awwww Tucker!!! Love it :) Regarding your question on how long it takes for the adult coat to come in. You'll see it at about a year. Cairn's and Westie's are very similar (coloring being the biggest difference). I've attached pictures of Braxton when we got him and at about a year so you can see the difference. They start looking pretty good about 9 months old. Braxton's hair isn't as wirey as Tucker's probably will be. If anything, I'd sooner believe something got into the wood pile with his mama! ;) Please notice Brax's buck teeth and walled eyes in the first picture! He had the majorly large ears too - it sorts out later on. He's not near as pathetic now. lol Poor baby :) We love him anyway. :p Another great thing about these particular breeds - they don't take nearly as much grooming as the Yorkie does - so there's another reason to keep him. He's easy ;) Keep us posted! |
he a cutie! |
Thank you :) They definately grow out of their "awkward" stage. Tucker will be even more beautiful when he's an adult. ;) |
My Westie, Breezy, will take off like a SHOT if given the chance. I have had to chase her down many times. We live not far from a very nice old resort/inn called the Arizona Inn. Breezy likes to hang out with the bellhops :) I now keep the gate locked, and we have taken extra precautions. Edie, my Yorkie, won't go anywhere without Mama. Thank goodness. |

Thanks for looking for me!! Dawn |
There is a yahoo group called Westie-L that is really good and has a lot of very knowledgable westie owners on it. I think I belonged to about four westie groups, but Westie L was the largest. |

As far as them running away, westies have a VERY HIGH prey drive and will run if they see a squirrel, rabbit or something no matter how well they are trained. It is recommended to never let them off leash unless fenced in, etc. I think mine was an exception. He was very good off leash, but you never know when it will kick it, so better safe than sorry. Glad you got him to come back! |

We've never been able to trust Braxton off leash but the last 2 Cairn's I had were great. My ex did a better job training them than I have done with Braxton. Calliope (my Yorkie) doesn't stray far from me and when I call, her she runs right back. She does like the birdies too though! :) |
Fun thread... ...thanks for letting me give input! |
