I Need To VENT!
 

I'm sooo pissed!! :mad:

I just got Jim his anniversary gift EARLY to surprise him (because he would expect something in June). I traded in our Ford Escape and got him a brand new, fully loaded Expedition. It's really hot. The exterior is a high-definition gloss black color with grey trim, black leather interior, moon roof, DVD-system with wireless headphones and remote control for people sitting in the back to watch movies (you can also plug in X-Box and otherr video games for long road trips), heated seats and air-conditioned seats (you can turn the AC on to cool off your butt in the summer LOL) and I can't even list all the other features because there are so many. As my friend Charley said, it's totally "pimped out" lolol :p

Jim has been wanting a new SUV for a looooong time and I wanted to surprise him so badly (he usually always finds out about his anniversary gifts or I give in and spill the beans lol). Anyway, I told him I was going out to get a manicure and pedicure but I really went to pick up the car. I drove home with it and it had a big red bow across the hood. When Jim saw it, he completely flipped out!! He loved it and he was totally surprised (which was my main goal lolol)! We drove it around to show our family and friends and then went out to dinner to celebrate.

But back to why I'm upset ... we don't even have the car 24 hours and it's been damaged! On the driver's side but by the passenger's door, it looks like someone threw a bottle at the car! It has 2 dents high up by the window (if it was any higher, they would have shattered the window!! :mad:) and there's some sticky stuff (like soda or jucie) on the car. So we think someone threw a soda bottle or something like that at the car. Grrrrrr!! :mad: I was so FURIOUS this morning!! I don't think it was done intertionally because we don't have any enemies where we live and we're pretty friendly with everyone in the neighborhood. We think it was just some kids fooling around or something. But still, I'm so upset! :mad:

Oh yeah, and besides the 2 dings some of the freakin paint came off!! :mad:

Anyway, Jim's been calling around all morning to get prices on fixing it. He's heard anywhere from $1,000 to $1,500 (because there's paint involved besiders banging out the 2 dents. Then Jim remembered that his friend owns a body shop and he called him and told him what happened. To make a long story short, he broought the car in and the guy looked it over and told Jim he'd do it for $325 (the cost of the paint). He isn't charging Jim for ANY labor. So basically we're only paying to order that special black gloss paint from Ford.

I can't believe what a great price we got for all the work involved. Because of where the dents are, the guy has to take the whole door off to bang out the dents. Then he has to paint the entire door (more than once) and do a few other things to do it treat it for that glossy finish look it has. This guy is going to get an amazing tip from Jim and I'm going to send him and his wife a really nice basket of chocolate and flowers from 1-800-Flowers to say thank you. It's the least I can do for all the money he saved us.

Oh yeah, not only is he saving up a lot of money, but he's fixing it TODAY. The car will be ready tomorrow morning.

I still feel really bummed about all this. It totally ruined that super happy feeling we were having yesterday. :(

Awww, I know that broke your heart but thank god for friends! Your new SUV sounds awesome!

If I'm not mistaken.... this new one is BIGGER than his last truck/SUV..... I bet those parking spackes are getting harder and harder to find huh? LOL

Give Jim a big hug for me and tell him that Karma's a %&#@*! They'll get theirs.

I took it really personal because this was the first time ever that I was able to fully surprise Jim! He had NO CLUE what I had planned or that he was getting a new car for another 6 months (I broke our lease early to really surprise him but Ford didn't make my pay the remaining money we owed on our Escape). I planned this for a month down to every detail. The car is brand new, it's only 1 month old (it took them 1 month to make it). I feel like this was a big let down for him even though he says it isn't and he still loves the car.

But like my grandma said, it could have been worse. We could have had a car accident last night and one of us (or someone else) could have gotten hurt, or worse, even killed. So I guess I shouldn't be that upset but I can't help feeling a little disappointed.

Congrats on the new car! Sorry for the dents/dings already....it is upsetting when that happens, isn't it? Luckily, he has a friend that can fix it pretty cheap...that is the plus side! But it doesn't make up for the fact of having a new car, that you just got and already have dents on it!!!

Well now you have to come back to ride in it!!! :p

im so sorry that happen, these kids now a days, i tell ya... they are bad..
i want to wish you and jim a happy anniversary and may you both have
many many more happy years with each other... your a great wife and he's
a fine husband... how lucky are you both..?. just forget about the truck,
as long as you both are fine...it will spankin new again in a few hours..

Thanks babe. I'm just glad it was the truck that got hurt and not us. Our anniversary is June 20th. I'm not sure what we're doing this year but we talked about going to Vegas.

I'm so sorry about the damage to your new suv, that stinks!! But, what a sweet and thoughtful gift for the hubby!!

Don't let some jerk bring you down - you got lucky with the repairs and I hope it looks back to brand new...too bad you can't get the bottle Fingerprinted - we need CSI on the case !

Seriously though, I'm sorry that happened. I hate it when people do stuff like that. There's no point. I'm glad you are able to get it fixed so fast and at such a great deal. Bring that man a case of Corona along with the check. :p :beermug:

It sounds like a beautiful car!!! But that sux about the dents. :mad: Some idiot probably threw the bottle out of the window or something. Or, somebody's really jealous of your new pimped out car. :p

uhhh you poor thing i know how you feel, you do something so good for your husband and yourselves and some punk has to go and try to ruin but you know what dont let them get you down. its the devil trying to play games with you and get you mad and down, but hey thats a good price to get it fixed, i had 2 small dents in my back bumper from when i took it in to get lowered and and exhaust put on and it was dirty when it came out and so we took it home and washed it to show off the new rims and etc and we seen these dents so we called the compnay and theguy working our car wasnt there but another guy was and he was telling my husband we didnt do it
you cant prove it and i was like omg and my husband told him we just pulled it out from there not even 2 hours ago and so anyway they called the shop where the muffler and exhaust was done and they said oh yeah we let the lift down with a jack underneath it

and i was like ok when was he going to tell you guys that

so anyway they paid for it but it was almost 900 dollars becuase they had to take out the back light and do this and that and 60 an hour labor etc

and thats what it was though 900 almost and the tire company paid for it they just wrote a check out to chevy i guess they thought we wouldnt fix it

but and where i live you can call the cops to make a report and turn it into your insurance but they dont care about little things like that

wait till its their car and im sure they will care then huh

but anyway im glad you are getting it fixed but dont let those punks get you down now go out and enjoy your new car. :p

Awww thank you all. The guy is working on the car now and it will be ready tomorrow. We can't drive it until Thursday because the paint has to dry but at least the dents will be fixed.

Jim just called me and said the car is fixed! You can't even tell that anything happened to it. All we have to do is wait for the paint to dry and we can take it home (tomorrow). YAY! :D

we just bought a brand new car as well and it has some fancy black shiny glittery paint. and I have had so many people damage the car, it is just horrible. and the paint is super expensive....I need to talk to your friend LOL

i have one HUGE door ding in the side of it. I mean, they whacked the crap out of it!!!!!!!! a bit @$$ dent and a huge scrape. I was so ticked!!!! we were quoted $1100 just for a small scratch on the back bumper where it looks like a shopping cart was rammed into it. so I dont even want to know how much this big door ding will cost us :mad:

OMG that's crazy!! Some people have no respect for someone else's property. It's terrible.
