I use Splenda, but want to try Stevia soonish! :) |
i am a sweet and low kind of girl. It stinks because McDonalds doesn't have sweet and low anymore and today I asked the girl and she gave me splenda. I don't like that stuff very much! |
I'm wierd - I HAVE to use the pink stuff in my iced tea - NOTHING else will make it sweet, not even equal or real sugar (unless i use a TON). I use Splenda for everything else - I really love the way it tastes in coffee and on cereal. I used it tonight to put on smashed fresh strawberries - it tastes (to me) just like sugar sweetened strawberries!! When I put them over low fat vanilla ice cream - yum yum and low fat/calorie to boot! Yes Kathyrn, the packets are more concentrated than the granular. We make homemade ice cream and I make mine with skim milk and splenda (granular) - tastes yummy - with half the calories. Splenda IS sugar with the hydrogen molecule removed so it is undigestable. It does not give me gas or diarrhea - haven't ever heard that before. I know that too much olestra (the fake fat they use in fat free chips) WILL give you gas/diarrhea. Overall, I'm a Splenda girl with just a kiss of the pink stuff in my tea! :D |
I like splenda and I used to use it but I read an article a while back about many side effects that splenda can cause. I'll have to find it--I know that I printed it... Some of the side effects were headaches, mood swings, joint pain... so I decided to stop using it. I don't recall personally experiencing any of the symptoms but I didn't want to risk it because I was already having back problems and I didn't want to add to that |
I like splenda better |
I'm in the Splenda group too. I have used it for years - half a packet in a cup of coffee and I use the Brown Sugar Splenda for oatmeal and baking. |
Splenda was my choice a few years back. I would put it in my green tea (cold green tea)....even then, it was only half a packet. Then, there was the big debate over those sweetners NOT being good for you and in cases, worse then actual sugar. I was recommended by the dietician to do natural ones like Stevia, and the like...can't remember what other ones, but they can be found at health food stores. I now use nothing to sweeten my drinks and found that it is an acquired taste, but it has grown on me. BUT between the two, you need to go w/ what you like....you are the one using it, so whatever tastes better to you and is handier for you. |
Love my Splenda. I use about 4 bags every 2 weeks. I have lost over 150 pounds and I use it in my decaf ice tea everyday. I can count it as water if it is decaf...that is a another topic....LOL |
I've tried both, but I still reach for the pink stuff. |
Splenda or the store brand of the same stuff is all I use. |

I use the Demerara Sugar, I get it at walmart and it is so good in tea or coffee |
i like slenda....sweet and low has aspatame(sp?) which is the ingrediant that is bad for you. i think it says it in red on the packets. i switched to splenda bc i heard that the pink was causing cancer....i only use the packets though... |
an informed consumer is a smart consumer Quote:
While some industry experts claim the molecule is similar to table salt or sugar, other independent researchers say it has more in common with pesticides. Observational evidence shows that there are side effects of Splenda, including skin rashes/flushing, panic-like agitation, dizziness and numbness, diarrhea, muscle aches, headaches, intestinal cramping, bladder issues, and stomach pain. These show up at one end of the spectrum — in the people who have an allergy or sensitivity to the sucralose molecule. But no one can say to what degree consuming Splenda affects the rest of us. http://www.womentowomen.com/nutritio...ss/splenda.asp |
