Oh Pam, I'm so sorry to hear that. :( I can only image how your feel right now, but Thank God your on your way to picking them up. So..... glad that their alright. :) Please keep us informed about why that happened. Take Care... Hugs to all of you. :hug60: |
Home safe and sound! We just got home. It was a mob seen of parents at the school. We had to wait in line ouside of the school and the kids were released one at a time. Some kids and parents were calm as can be and some were crying. My daughter was crying and my son was calm. My daughter was interviewed by one of our somewhat local news papers. She is scared to go to school on Monday. :( I am still unclear on what actually happened, but from what I can gather a student was handing out tickets yesterday at school saying "if you received this ticket you won't be killed by me tomorrow." My daughters boyfriend was offered a ticket and denied it. I guess no one took it serious until today when a not was found at school with a bomb threat. Well i am just happy that they are home safe and sound!! :D The prom is tomorrow night and I am wondering if this will affect it at all. I am soooo glad that I had the day off. I worked last night and did not get home until 11:15...my kids were still doing homework. I told my son that he better go to sleep soon because I was not keeping him home today. If something had happened I could not have lived with myself. Thanks you soo very much to everyone who replied to this thread. I truly feel like I have my family at home as well as my family on Yorkie talk!! :) |

So scarey to ave kids in school in this day and age. It's a damn shame too. I think all threats have to be taken very seriously now. Glad your children are safe. |
I'm so sorry you and your children had to go through this. When I was teaching, we got used to it, but never completely. I don't like that they knew there was a problem yesterday with this kid passing out notes. They still kept the school open today when they got a phone call and had to go on lockdown. That's too scary for the kids and for the parents. Anyway, thank God nothing happened! |
I'm so glad everyone is ok !! ...this is just too scary and I can't believe there's so many lunatics out there... LoveMyGirlz...that was such a nice offer...... after daisy mae06's post yesterday about the pipe bomb...then according to my son -UT had a bomb scare last night - now seeing this ..wow....we have some really bad things happening :( .... Praying everyone stays safe especially school kids and I'm glad yours is ok !! |
Whewww, just read through this thread, was on the edge of my chair until I got to the point that everything was ok..........well, as ok as it could get!! I am so glad that my kids are all out of school & college!!! Glad everything was ok with the kids!! Things are getting crazy! |

My son has a passion for shoes like I do for Yorkies. He has quite a few very expensive and rare Jordans that he has been threatened over. I now am very careful about what he can buy and wear to school. I see him becoming bitter, so I try to explain to him that the world is not this way, that things will be better when he gets out of school. I hope I am right. |
it happened today in my nephew's school!!!! Two eigth graders decided to "bomb" the school, but it turned out to be only threats. Now these two children who have no idea of the repercussions of this have been arrested adn the kids from school are terrified... this is so terrible! Bless all of our children! d |
In custody Ok, so it is on the front page of our paper today. The kid is a 17 year old junior who is in custody now and faces felony charges for making bomb threats and terrorists threats as well as misdemeanor charges for creating a disturbance at school. Apparently there were four notes taped at varios places in the school...no specifics on what the notes said .."It was just ranting and raving about today's the day". The first not was found at 7:30 AM and school starts at 8:00AM, so in my opinion students should not have been allowed on campus at that point. Red tickets were given out randomly on Thursday saying that "if you recieve this ticket your life will be spared". Students were told to stay under desks or at least away from windows inn their classrooms with the lights out. I think that's what scared them. I had no idea that yesterday was the aniversary to the Columbine shooting. Just wanted to update everyone. thanks again for listening. |

Hows your daughter doing? Does she feel better about going on Monday since the boy is in custody?? So I laughed so hard last night my cheeks still hurt!!!!! It was great.... |
Hi, I just saw this now. So sorry you all had to go through that :( |
Pam, I'm glad they have the kid who did it. He should face felony charges. I hope your daughter is doing better, now that she knows that kid was caught. :) I feel for you when you said your son was bullied. Even though mine will soon be 25 years old, I will never forget that he was bullied in elementary school and when I talked to the teacher about it,she did NOTHING.... I hope you can salvage some of your weekend and at least maybe tomorrow will be better for all of you. :) Take Care... |
I'm glad your kids are o.k and that they caught the kid! Their are soo many copycats out their, but also a lot of psychos so it's hard to tell when it's a sick joke or someones serious, but at least in this case everyone is o.k! I remember in my hs, after the columbine their supposedly was a hitlist found, all the students were talking about it, but we never heard the teachers say anything, or anything in the news so I think it was people who just wanted to start drama. Once again though, I'm glad your kids are o.k. I'll say a prayer that they will continue to be safe while at school. |
This happed a couple of days ago in the next town. April 20, 2007 - 6:39PM School Employees Praised for Actions in Keeping Out Teen Gunman Scott Lawrence A 14 year old is in custody after Beaumont police say he tried to run into Ogden Elementary school with a gun. Authorities say they responded to a call about a fight at about 10:45 a.m. Friday at a home several blocks away from the school on Victoria Street. They say the teen ran from police and tried to enter the elementary school, but all the doors were locked. Officers say a parent had seen police chasing the teen, and told the principal, who locked down the school. The juvenile is on probation. He now faces two counts of making terroristic threats, unlawfully carrying a weapon and evading police. |
This is all extremely scary. I'm glad my school was on spring break last week. Though, with all the "copycats/people thinking it's a good idea" I'm scared going back. However, I'm happy that my school is hidden in a lower residential area. It's kind of hard to find our school. I like our position better than the other elementary schools that are right by the middle and high schools. I hope that all of you with kids/grandkids are doing okay. I'm sure all of the schools have reviewed/revised their lock down procedures. |
I just saw this and am so glad no one was hurt. It is so traumatic for the kids everytime this happens. My dtr's school was in lockdown about once every couple of months but they were allowed to call. The worst one happened the day after a double murder near another school a few miles down the road. This one was a total lockdown, noone could go to the bathroom, lunch, and NO calls. One of my dtr's friends was able to call her mom (she never followed the rules and this time I was glad) and her mom called me. I called the school - they could say nothing. But the secretary must have realized how frantic parents were and she did whisper "I can't give out any info but I can answer yes or no). 1st question: Are weapons involved - NO, has anyone been hurt - NO. I felt better. It turned out to be a major drug bust with several Cafeteria workers, janitors, about 1 quarter of the senior class and the assistant principal being hauled off in handcuffs for dealing drugs to the students. Outcome - most of the kids came back to school (after getting bailed out), the Ass't Principal came the next year with a promotion - as principal and the drugs remain as readily available as they ever were. Shops are set up in the stairwells. But the students, who at the time, didn't know anything except that there was a murderer on the run, were terrified. My dtr came home in tears afraid to go back to school. I believe that in time there will be no more schools - home schooling will be the only way to be sure your children are safe. It is such a sad, sad world. |
That is ver scary but it will all work out |
That is so horrible that people would do stuff like this :thumbdown :( I hope your kids are okay |
