They found out who did all the shootings (VA Tech) Picture Inside 1 Attachment(s) Just as I suspected, he was a "loner" - and now today, after all that has happened, there was a Bomb Threat at Texas Tech. A note was found. Of course, usually when someone is going to commit an act of violence like this, they don't give out a warning. So I'm sure the Bomb Threat was just something that was done by someone to get media attention, which is sad. They have released the guy's picture that is responsible for the VA Tech shootings - see his picture below. BLACKSBURG, Va. - The gunman suspected of carrying out the Virginia Tech massacre that left 33 people dead was identified Tuesday as a English major whose creative writing was so disturbing that he was referred to the school's counseling service. Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old senior, arrived in the United States as boy from South Korea in 1992 and was raised in suburban Washington, D.C., officials said. He was living on campus in a different dorm from the one where Monday's bloodbath began. Police and university officials offered no clues to his motive in the massacre, the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history. "He was a loner, and we're having difficulty finding information about him," school spokesman Larry Hincker said. Professor Carolyn Rude, chairwoman of the university's English department, said she did not personally know the gunman. But she said she spoke with Lucinda Roy, the department's director of creative writing, who had Cho in one of her classes and described him as "troubled." "There was some concern about him," Rude said. "Sometimes, in creative writing, people reveal things and you never know if it's creative or if they're describing things, if they're imagining things or just how real it might be. But we're all alert to not ignore things like this." She said Cho was referred to the counseling service, but she said she did not know when, or what the outcome was. Rude refused to release any of his writings or his grades, citing privacy laws. |
this is so sad....it hits home here b/c so many people who live in my area graduated from va tech. i feel for those families. it was a very sad day. |
It is so hard. I go to VCU and I have friends and family that go there or have graduated from there. I feel so bad for everyone there. It really hits close to home. I send out my prayers to the VT family and friends. |
Yeah. I go to UMD and this seems too close for comfort. I feel so awful for all the families affected, including the shooters. |
:hands: :hands: :hands: For everyone affected by this. That's all that I can do for any of you , just pray for comfort. :aimeeyork Hugs |
this has really upset me, i dont personally know anyone there, but i feel for the 33 sets of parents i cant imagine being the family to receive that news, it really angers me that they didnt close the school immediatley after the first set of shots, and t angers me that he was able to get in the school with guns and ammo and it angers me that he felt he had the right to ruin lives and take lives because this %&^#* idiot had a bad day! |
it is just so sad to hear that some one killed all those people just to comite suicide in the end when if that was the case he should have just shot himself and left the others alone.. :( :( :( :( :( :thumbdown :thumbdown |
I heard Oklahoma University went into lock down too today for someone having something suspicious. Turned out to be an umbrella. (so I heard, i haven't found anything on it or seen anything on TV yet) |
i agree with toots23 |
I can't believe all the signs were there and no one picked up on it....I feel just horrible for all the families and students and his family too.... It's unreal and in my opionion an act of terrorism.....What on earth could have been in his mind when he made the decision to become a mass murderer :( |
