Transplant List Hey guys...I am on a kidney transplant list. This october will be 3 years...and I have been on dialysis for years. I started out with hemo-dialysis then went to paratenial dialysis. The paratenial is so much easier. It allows me to have a job and pretty normal life. I connect myself to my machine every night for 10 hours at a time, which isn't bad to sustain life. Hopefully I will get a new kidney, please keep your fingers crossed. And if anyone has an extra kidney to spare, please let me know. You only need one. :D |
I hope you find a kidney soon! I have a friend that is waiting on one as well. I'd like to give him one of mine, but my health is not the greatest and I'm afraid of the donor surgery. |
I wish you the best of luck. I am keeping mine just in case my brother ends up needing one. He has kidney problems and apparently I would be a great match. |
I'm sorry to hear that jpb1971, a close family member has dialysis three to four times a week. It's so hard to see her so weak and tired after her treatments so often. She has been on a kidney waiting list for a few years now as well. :( |
Sorry to be ignorant, but I would like to know why people are on lists for years. Are there not many people who are donors, and you have to be an exact match/blood type? I truly hope you get one soon!! Best wishes to you! |
Hugs to you JP JP, I will have you in my prayers. Your story hit very close to home. My mom was on dyalisis for many years. She was on hemodyalisis first but it was too strong for her. Then she was on the peritonial that she used to do by herself at her home. Sadly my mom was dx with renal cancer in 2000 and it spread very rapidly to her bones etc. I lost my mom July 7, 2000. My sister was going to donate my mom a kidney but for circunstances it was not done. I will have you in my prayers for you to found a kidney soon. God bless you. |
I am so sorry to hear about this. I hope you can find a suitable donor soon. This hits close to home for me too. My best friend and very first boyfriend ended up on dialysis after having renal failure from a spider bite. All of his family would have been compatible, but he refused to allow us to give him a kidney because he didn't want us to go through the pain of the surgery. He went into cardiac arrest on Christmas, and was in a coma for 10 months before he passed. I hope that all things go well for you. And believe me, I would give you one of mine if I could, but mine aren't the greatest to begin with. I will be praying for you. |
