Proper placement is crucial... if you wear a seat belt... I know we've had a thread before about IF you use a seat belt ...this is about that if you do use one it's extremely important to place it correctly or you risk severe internal injuries.....I was reading a Reader's Digest story about a young girl who was in a bad car accident...she received ALL her injuries from the seat belt, not the crash...she endured numerous operations for major internal injuries because the belt was placed over the stomach area... it's supposed to be placed over the pelvic bones...especially for pregnant women, you could lose your baby...the following link shows proper placement: http://www.carsp.ca/belt_use.htm If your car is traveling at 75 mph.at the time of collision that is the same speed your body is propelled forward into the belt or wind shield...This little adjustment could save a lot of heart ache for some....Just thought you should know... |
i always wear my seatbelt . always |
When i was in high school a friend of mine was in a really bad car accident and he was wearing the lap belt in the back well the seat belt hurt him really bad it actually ripped his stomache open and his inteatines came out he had to have a lot of surgery very scary. |
Most people just get in & click w/o any thought of where the belt is resting, me included, but it's WHERE the belt is placed that is crucial to avoid internal injuries....:) |

Just bumping because it's important to see & pass on to family & friends.:) |
I always wear my seatbelt and always have! Thanks for posting this. Wearing my seatbelt saved my life...The car flipped several times and landed upside down, and I came out without a single scratch. Our car was sideswiped by a drunk driver and sent the car sliding on ice and off the road and out of control... |
Yorkieluv, that had to have been frightening, lucky for the belt! The reason I posted this wasn't in IF you wear the belt it's if you do, have it down low across the hip bones NOT on the stomach area, or you may suffer internal damages... When on the go ...Wear it low :D |
Great, catchy phrase!! Yes, you are right, proper placement is definitely crucial. |
