Out of the mouths of babes or what are they teaching 2nd graders? In the middle of our Easter feast, I was sitting next to my 8 yr old grandson when he asked our house guest how long he had been here. Otto said: I think I got here Thursday night around 9pm. Conner asked me how many hours that was & I counted in my primitive way:rolleyes: : 24+24+12+5=65 hours. I asked Conner how many minutes that was. Conner, not looking up from playing with his mashed potatoes and gravy said: "I don't know, grandma, but it's two thousand & thirty four thousand seconds". Everyone just looked at him, I grabbed the calculator. FYI 65 hours=3900 minutes=234,000 seconds. Happy Easter ps: I told him that it was 234,000 he said that he had not learned to count to hundred thousands yet, just up to 99,999. |
