blondflava | 04-05-2007 06:20 AM | Another scam going around... I want to warn evrybody against a new scam that's been going around. This time it's people pretending to be Coca Cola Co. and UPS  ... For someone who hasn't heard a lot about scammers (I know there are still such people :( ), it may seem pretty legit, unfortunately. They will send you an email notifying of a won Coca Cola lottery in the amount of over a million British pounds... They state they're the UK branch. Then they'll tell you to contact their courier to schedule the delivery of your won package (won check, tax documents and other information). They conveniently provide you with the email of the courier which is ups_customerservicedelivery@yahoo. Then the manager of UPS writes to you, the email has UPS logos, pictures and website listed, along with the phone numbers in it - looks pretty decent, I have to say. The vocabulary they use is pretty impressive, too. They say they might be fees involved if you want the parcel delivered (of course... ) and they tell you to pay through their affiliate, which is - who else - Western Union... I notified UPS already and they hopefully will be able to find the computer behind all this by the IP number - as I keep writing emails to thode phony people 'trying to schedule the delivery'. It is scary how creative they are now.... |
