My Hubby and son went arrow head hunting, they both found one, but they also found a poor starving female beagle in the woods. It stunk so bad, like dead, It must of been living on dead deer or some thing. Well My Hubby and son said they just couldnt leave it there, that it would of been dead in a matter of days if they did. It was so scared of them and all they had in the car was pretzels witch it ate. and once it got close enough hubby picked her up and put her in the car. So we have her here in the Garage and my whole garage smells. I took a few pictures of her, she looks bad. Im going to call the dog shelter tomorrow and see if they can take her. If not I guess we will have to get her good and healthy and then find a home for her. she looks like she would be so sweet, She needs a lot of TLC.

Oh mercy - she's skin and bones! Your husband is an angel to bring her home instead of leaving her there to die alone and starving.

I hope you can get help to get her all well and find a forever home for the poor darling. Their faces are so precious with the way they wrinkle their brows. How can anyone treat a little animal that way is beyond me.

Is the shelter you are calling a no kill shelter?

Poor little girl.:( She must have known your husband was going to save her to trust him enough to go with him. Beagle are such sweet dogs. I hope you are able to find her a safe and loving home so she will never have to go hungry again.

Poor baby. I had a beagle for 14 years and she was wonderful. Thanks for bringing her home and good luck at winning back her trust.

Try beagle rescue first. The poor thing. She was probably dumped out there. :(

Is the shelter a no kill?

That was so awesome of your husband and she sure looks like she can use some TLC poor baby...I can see all her ribs and hope she'll be ok and you can find her a great home. I wish you were closer, my friend here in houston LOVES beagles

Yes the shelter is a no kill shelter, private owned. Well I called the shelter today, They cant take her in, They said they only have room for 40 dogs and they already have 80. She said I could write to ebenzinger@ee.net Its a beagle rescue, So I just wrote them and email.She also said I could call the Game warden, but she would be put down if I did. Well thats not an option, Hubby didnt bring here home to have her put down, She did nothing wrong and deserves a chance. so I guess were her only chance for now. We will do what we can to help her and keep looking for her a forever home.
Last night I fixed her up a little chicken and rice, boy did she love that. I didnt give her much because I thought she would eat to fast and get sick. so we will give her little amounts often untill shes able to eat all she wants.
We are in Ohio close to Washington Court House.

I'd be bathing that poor baby to make her feel better. I think she has cataracts and probably doesn't see well either. I'm wondering if she didn't wonder away from her home and couldn't find her way back. Put out some flyers and call all the Vets. in and around your area to see if anyone lost her. I wouldn't take that poor girl to any shelter. Given her age, she will most likely sit in a cold cell for a long time and she could get kennel cough, and in her condition, that would be bad news for her. Call the Begal rescue if no one claims her. They will take care of all her medical and find her the right home.

I have such a soft spot for beagles. We had one for 13 years and he was a wonderful pet.

I wonder if some amateur tried to take her hunting and she got separated from him or her.

I hope the beagle rescue group will take her. Thank you so much for taking care of her and please thank your husband and son for saving her. They are great thoughtful men!

That must be from the flash to her eyes, Because her eyes are nice and clear, Ill post another picture to show you. Yes she needs a bath bad, but shes so scared im not going to give her one yet, Ill hold off another day or so. Shes been tho a lot, I dont want to scare her any more. By her teeth Im guessing shes a year or 2 old, my hubby thinks shes closer to age 1.

Hubby just came in from feeding the Beagle and shes up and wagging her tail. Im so happy, she was following him around the garage. its not much but its a start. Im sure she will turn out to be a very loving dog, with a lot of TLC.

Your hubby is an angel!
How frightened and alone she must have been.
Beagel's are such a loving sweet breed.
Maybe hubby will fall in love with her and keep her to
hunt with him. They of course love to hunt.
Well if that dosen't work out I do hope you find
a loving home for her soon. I am certain you would
not settle for anything less. I have a feeling you are
going to wind up keeping her.

animals they way you do.
