Accidental drug overdose....who would've known :rolleyes: Chloral Hydrate was the main component so said the medical examiner. Sooo sad. :( But I STILL do not trust that Howard K. Stern guy!!! :mad: :thumbdown

This is so tragic!! You know, after she passed, one of her friends said that she had once asked Anna Nicole if she could go back and do everything again, would she? She responded, "No way! I would still be living in my small town, working in a restaurant and raising my son!". :( How sad that what she THOUGHT that she wanted, she would have taken it all back for a normal life.

I agree about the Stern guy. I don't think he is any good at all. I think
he got her the drugs also and kept her attached to them. He certainly
did not seem to help her in anyway.

Hope the DNA testing shows the younger guy as the father.
He seems to really care about the baby.

Chloral Hydrate



First synthesized in 1832, chloral hydrate was the first depressant developed for the specific purpose of inducing sleep. Currently marketed as syrups or soft gelatin capsules, chloral hydrate takes effect in a relatively short time (about 30 minutes) and will induce sleep in an hour. In Victorian England, a solution of chloral and alcohol constituted the infamous "knockout drops" or "Mickey Finn."


Today depressants such as chloral hydrate are packaged with labels warning against the danger of mixing these kinds of sedatives with alcohol or other depressants. We now know that a mixture of morphine and alcohol, for example, is likely to bring about an episode of psychosis in the user, and morphine mixed with valium is such a deadly combination that it is sometimes used to euthanize critically ill patients.


In the nineteenth century, however, chloral hydrate was often used by alcoholics whose sleep patterns had become disturbed by excessive drinking. The danger of such a potent mixture and the highly addictive properties of chloral resulted in "two cravings for a single craving," as detailed in 1880 in the Quarterly Journal of Inebriety. At the end of the century, the medical community was finally becoming aware of the problems associated with the increasing popularity of hypnotic drugs such as chloral hydrate.


Chloral hydrate, like several other nineteenth-century depressants, found eager users among the literary and artistic community of Victorian England. Poet and painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti (in the picture) became a virtual recluse after his wife Elizabeth Siddal died of a laudanum overdose, and his grief and guilt led to a debilitating addiction to chloral hydrate, which lasted until his death in 1882. Writer W.E. Henley's 1875 poem "Interior" from his series "In Hospital," paints a grim picture of the use of chloral as a sedative agent frequently administered to dying patients by health-care workers.


Despite the abuse and mis-administration of the sedative, chloral hydrate did fulfill a need for a drug that would ease sleeplessness due to pain or insomnia and is considered a positive medical discovery. At therapeutic doses (and without the introduction of alcohol and other depressants), chloral produces few negative side effects and is competent in promoting sleep. Although chloral hydrate is still encountered today, its use has declined with the introduction of other barbiturates.

Sure thing girl ;) :thumbup: I was sitting here this morning watching the news and of course that is just about all thats on right now. They HAVE taken the baby's DNA...and Larry Birkhead's as well...but as far as I know they have not taken Howard Stern's?? He is trying to have the whole thing appealed...now why do you think he would be doing that? :rolleyes: Probably because he knows he's not the father! :mad: He makes me cringe! I can't stand that guy!

Chloral Hydrate is a sleeping aid...it has been circulating for a while that she was using this - and sure enough, the rumors were right. It IS very tragic, I just felt so sorry for the woman. I think she had a really messed up childhood which is why she had a really messed up life.

I agree with you 100% about everything girl. Don't trust Howard Stern, never have, never will. I think he's after the money seeing as he admitted in court that he is LIVING OFF HIS PARENTS :eek: :mad: What a loser. It's scary to think that poor little Dannylynne is in HIS "care!" :eek:

I too hope the DNA tests prove that he is not the father - I just know he's not. I think that Larry Birkhead is the father and have thought that from the very beginning. I too think that he truly cares about that little baby and it's sad that he can't even see the poor girl. This whole thing is just so terrible :(

This was actually leaked on friday, I heard about it on the morning show I listen to on my way to school. They also said that she had an injection in her and the needle wasn't sterilized, therefore an infection came. They said if she didn't pass from the chloral hydrate, it would've been from the infection. She was running a fever well above 100 (can't remember what it was exactly) and not her nurse or Stern would take her to the hospital.

I feel so bad for this baby! But to be honest i don't know if i would have felt any better for her if anna was alive and had her either? she was a messes up lady that had a lot of drug and emothional problems i just hope the courts decide who th father is and take that money and put it in a trust that no one can touch but the baby when she is 25 that will stop all this money hungry bull crap!

The temp was 105 if i'm not mistaken. i heard the same thing she had a blood infection

That is so sad! The whole thing is so tragic! I remember when I heard that her son had died right after the birth of Dannylynne and thinking how shocking that was....and then when I heard she died, I couldn't believe it :(

I don't even know why there is an issue with the money the baby is her soul Heir and she is to young to to have it why don't they stop this with a trust fund i don't get it?

I don't know, I work as a paralegal and am working on getting Doctrate in Business Law and my first thought with this case was just that. I don't know why no one else hasn't thought of it :confused:

I know. It seems obvious, and anyone that truly cared about the baby would do just that. But everyone and their mother (literally :p ) has this whole thing tied up with subpoenas and appeals and every other legal maneuever they can.

What I don't understand is, Anna Nicole spent years battling for her late husband's money because he didn't have an iron clad will. She LIVED with a freaking attorney. Why were her children not protected with an explicit will? She of all people should have known the importance of one.

Lets face it , it's all about : The possible MONEY !

I wasnot expecting that ( the cause of death ) . I cant wait to see what are the results of the DNA test for the baby .

yeah i just read the autposy report also. i ahve been following it and i wasnt to shocked to see it was drug overdose because other than that she really didnt have nothing wrong with her physically. now mentally thats another story but i was just thinking that who gave her all of these, i mean where does she keep her pills or who keeps her pills
i personally would think her nurse. now callign her a nurse is she a nurse or more like a maid, just cleanign up after her and cookinf for her like an aid or is she a certifies nurse who can distribute pills and know thier meanings, i mean its sounds kinda dumb to think that anna would carry all her pills on her or her purse and give them to herself then why would she have a nurse?
i mean im not saying she didnt pop them herself sometimes but i mean she didnt sit there and take all of them herself im sure. and in most of their interviews they say ohh anna was taking cough syrup oh anna was taking childrens decongestant (sp) like its anna anna anna, so im like oh she just sat this bottle of medicine by her and kept track of it all herself? i mean she couldnt even walk half the time

i just think they should do more investigation and if they wont then they should at leat fine someone

That is so sad. I feel bad for Anna Nicole.. I think despite all her problems she was a sweet person and just very messed up emotionally.

Poor Dannilynne too.. I hope she finds a loving home with someone who can care for her and get her started down a good path in life instead of runing her. :(

I hate to disagree with almost everyone, but I truly just think Howard Stern was/is doing what Anna wanted. He has been by her side for a long time and I do think he loved her dearly. But I think that Howard is not Dannylynn's father and that's why him and Anna moved to the Bahamas. I agree with YorkieGirl 83, I do think Anna was a good person but messed up emotionally. Rest in Peace Anna and Daniel. :rip:

i felt so bad for this women when her son died, i think we have all known she has been drugs for Many years, I figured she overdosed on drugs, its just sooo sad, But i think they need to figure out already who the Real Father of her baby is . She deserves a Normal Healthy Life . It really is just a very sad story the entire thing , and this poor innocent baby :(

I heard she also had a blood infection which also could have lead to her demise. Nobody refused to take her to the hospital,she refused when she had the 105 temp.They said she was a able to make her own choice,and did not fault Howard or her nurse.
My belief is Howard had nothing to do with either death. The only thing he is guilty of is being an enabler.
I feel bad for him , he lost Daniel who was like a son to him, then Anna, now he most likely will lose the baby, who I'm sure he has grown to love as his own.

Poor thing - she was very troubled, and clearly a drug abuser, but when her son died, I think her heart broke. What did he die from? I think it was also a drug overdose. I feel for her little baby girl. No matter who the father is, she lost her mother. I do hope it's the young guy though. I hate that Howard K. Stern. He seems to be a loser druggie too, just stringing her along and enabling her so that he could live well. What a slacker! What's up with her mother? I couldn't figure her out at all.

I just hope that sweet little baby has a good life. She had nothing to do with any of this.
