Bird House Help! 1 Attachment(s) I am living in a bird house. Does anyone know how I might be able to convince this precious little birdie to "fly away home?" |
Oh my goodness! I have no idea what to do about something like that? How strange. But it makes a fun post. Let us know what happens next! |
have u tried catching it? you can use a bird net... or even a net from a swimmin pool will work... its kinda difficult... but if u can catch it... you can let it go outside if that doesnt work... well.. then... i hope you enjoy your new pet.. lol |
Since we live so close to the forest, this happens to us from time to time. Secure all of your pets them prop open the closest outside door. You can then get a broom and swing it toward the bird (DON'T HIT IT). When it flies away from the broom he will spot the opening and fly out. If it is too high up for you to reach with a broom throw soft things toward it like rolled up socks or little stuffed toys. Let us know what happens! |
Hahaha...too cute! If I was close, I'd come with bird net in hand and help you! Once there was a hummingbird in my sunroom and he'd sit on the little birdhouses on the peak window. I got out the ladder tried and tried to catch him, and he'd just fly to another birdhouse out of my reach. I then opened one of the sliding glass doors and hung the nectar feeder there, hoping that would lure him down. It was an awful windy day and the feeder was flying around from the wind dumping nectar and what a mess I created. I finally caught the little stinker with my bird net and got him outside! Whew! After hearing that, aren't you glad I can't come help you? hahaha |
Is there a "Birdie Talk" ? Are you going to start making "Birdie Bits" ? Will you still check on us sometimes & talk to us even tho:confused: we don't all have Free Birds in our homes? (Disclaimer: I'm on muscle relaxer's & pain meds right now and am probably not responsible for what's coming out of my fingers.) |
The problem I have is that we have vaulted ceilings that are about 17" tall. I don't have a broom that high to shush him out the door. I haven't seen the little one in the past couple of hours -- I think he is hiding and plotting :( |
Maybe if you tried catching him at night? |

buy bird food and then when he is eating catch it with a net. |

I'd love an aviary when I move into a house.. a once saw a beautiful one that had all types of finches and button quail in the bottom.. it was beautiful. Hope I'm not being a topic thief! |

The problem with trying to catch him/her is that where she is roosting is --ABOUT 17' UP IN THE AIR. We have very high vaulted ceilings. I don't have a ladder tall enough..... Connie, would you consider leaving a day early and stopping by my house and lending a helping hand????? |
LOL...I WISH I could fly there and help out! What fun that would be! I looked on my computer for a picture of my aviary, but can't find it. It's an indoor one made of oak and glass & has a top compartment where I keep canaries and lots of different finches. The bottom compartment is for Chico, my love bird. We got him for our son, but Chico loved only me and bit everyone else. hee hee If you'd like to see a pic of Chico, go here: http://www.geocities.com/wildrose912/Chico.html When my nephew was here for my Mom's funeral and stopped by, I asked him if he wanted my aviary and he said yes. It is just so much work keeping it clean and taking care of all the birds and I know my nephew will take good care of all of them. It will be hard to see Chico go, but he'll probably give Chico more attention than I have lately! So, hopefully soon...the aviary will be gone...he lives about 2 hours away. Too bad you don't live here, Kyle! I had a chance at a free aviary that the pet store was getting rid of. It was so huge, there was just no way I could find room in my house for it! What a deal though...you could have had that! |
