Please help stop the slaughter of baby seals
 
Canadian fishermen are again gearing up for a massive baby seal slaughter.
They shoot and club baby seals leaving blood and gore behind for the babies' mothers to find. Please help stop the slaughter:

I can't believe this goes on...it's horrible and all done for GREED....I write all the time but with politics involved someone in real power needs to stop this slaughter. It's so cruel it makes it embarrassing to be human.

Can you imagine if it was your JOB to beat a live animal to death with a pole??

I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

Their "jobs" are to catch fish. They club baby seals in their off season. It doesn't even make up a tiny percentage of their annual income. Last year we started boycotting Canadian fish until they stop this practice. It has actually decreased the import significantly. If we continue it can only further the cause and show that we mean business.

I have talked a few people out of buying Canadian fish at the fish counter by telling them about the boycott. :)

Last year (like previous years) the Human Society monitored the slaughter. The fishermen actually tried to ram their little boats in that cold water. These fishermen are real brave aren't they? Picking on baby animals and little dingies with their great big fishing boats.

I don't want to offend any of our Canadian members and hope that they realize that this is about the fishermen and practice of clubbing baby seals. It isn't about the country or citizens. I love Canada and have visited many times.

I don't live in Canada but am Canadian born.....from what I understand most people in Canada are against this practice. :( It's all politics and your post was very respectful to the country.. I know what you're saying...

I really thought they had stopped it finally & was really sorry to see this post today. It reminds me so much of the Fur Trade. There really is no reason for these seals to die in such horrible ways...for what - their pelt ?

I wish people would wake up and see what vanity costs these poor animals :(

The picture at the top of that web page makes me sick....that is just ridiculous to kill them like that...poor babies....at least they could be humane....not beat them with a stick!!!!:mad: :mad: GO BOYCOTT!!
People are soo stupid these days....and have no thought for animals and sea life what so ever!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: Just makes me sick!!

Buy your fish at the fish counter and if where the fish comes from isn't posted with the price ask the counter person. THat is a good way to tell him or her that you are boycotting and why. Believe me it will get back to the store manager. The link I posted has other ideas on it like writing to the Prime Minister of Canada. It is the website for the society so don't be afraid to go there. You won't have to watch a video. There is a photo at the top of the page. It is a man holding his club/sick up getting ready to hit a baby seal that is just sitting there looking at him. It is disturbing but it is not bloody.

Yes it is. I can't believe that it goes on year after year. I wish the major news would pick it up. I wouldn't want to see the babies killed myself but it might help for some people to actually see what is going on. We don't send horses overseas anymore for food consumption because of the cruel ways some countries slaughter them thanks to this humane society.

PLEASE help by going to the site and reading about what you can do.
