Knee replacement I am getting ready to have knee replacement surgery on both knees. Any one out there who has done this who can give me advice and encouragement. I am getting really nervous. |
Surgery of any kind is risky and shouldn't be taken lightly, but try meditation and positive thinking. Boost your Vitamin C to about 5000 mg a day and continue after surgery for a speedy healing. I knew a chef who had both hips replaced and he was the happiest man after that. He had stronger hips than ever before and was never in pain again. Those surgery's are truly a blessing. |
Oh gosh, I had a whole knee reconstruction done 4 years ago from this month. I will tell you the truth.... having a baby was about 1000 times less painful than that! But I am a wimp and have no pain tolerance. The doctor that did mine actually messed it up pretty bad also. I have had an MRI and been told that I need surgery again. I just cant bring myself to do it until it is absolutely ness. I was 18 when I had to surgery. Im sure you will have much better luck than I did. Keep us updated. |
My FIL had that surgery. His knees were bad, he was bow legged, couldn't bend his knees before the procedure. After, he looked different with STRAIGHT legs AND more importantly he feels much better in that area and can bend his knees! I don't remember him complaing about the surgery afterwards at all. Good Luck! Angie |
Well I've never had a surgery b-4 of any kind i just wanted to show some support...I would also have to agree with Yorkiedaze some meditation and positive thinking will help...Wishing you the best...:) |
My mom had one knee replaced and - although she said it was very painful and the rehabilitation was very hard - she said it was the best thing she ever did and she would do it again in a heart beat. Having both knees done at the same time will be very hard, but then it will all be over and you will feel so much better. Mom was in rehab with a man who had both done at the same time, and he did great! One of the most important things is to work hard in rehab. It will hurt and it will be very hard, but the harder you work at rehab, the quicker you will recover and be pain free. Even after you are discharged from rehab, keep doing the exercises. Good luck!!! |
Thanks for the support. I'm having the surgery on May 7. Long wait 'cause they have to schedule 3 surgeons..2 on one knee and 1 on the other. I've never been away from my little Murfee for that long. I know he will pout and sulk. Maybe hubby can sneak him in. |
