does anyone have or no how to make some display shelves, I'm trying to get prepared for May (The Yorkie Fair) and I don't just want to lay stuff on a table and have it look like a garage sale where people are rummaging through stuff, I want it to be displayed nicely. I have called around to some of are small shops asking if they have cardboard display shelfs, kinda like the stair step look. Let me know if anyone has a good idea or suggestion for me.

You could get a peg board, dress it up and hang different sizes on different hooks. There was one like that at our town festival last fall. Looked very nice. As far as shelves, maybe hit a few garage sales or auctions and see what they have that you can use. You could get something from one of those really cheap.

I could just cry! I just called staples and he said he just smashed a whole bunch of them about a week 1/2 ago :( I could just scream!!!!!

The peg board is a good idea also! But I wanted some table top displays also.

I'd look for something lightweight and easily assembled and dissesembled, like maybe plastic. I'll go think on this a bit more.

am going to have hubby make me a pegboard divider to hang stuff but will not be bringing it to the fair :rolleyes: I have signed up to be a vendor at our AKC dog show this May and at a craft fair at our local High School in November which I am told is HUGE :)

My aunt is very crafty and sells her stuff at various shows. She uses these wire cubes to hold items and uses clothes pins to display items on all sides of the cubes. They come apart so they can be carried and put back together. There should be a picture below. I found this set at Home Depot.

What if you got some unfinished wood shelves (like a bookshelf-type thing) from a place like A.C. Moore. They often have them on sale.. and if the aren't on sale.. if you google "A.C. Moore discount coupon" they have a 40% off one item.

You could paint or stain it whatever you wanted.. or even just leave them unfinished. If you plan to do other fairs, shows, etc, they could be a good investment.

To go a cheaper route, you could get different size boxes and kind of 'stair-step' them, then cover them with some nice fabric or maybe even twin unfitted sheets.

Find some different size smallish boxes. Wide and low, taller and smaller, short and wide, short and low, wide and high....etc. Place them on the table in different places, (well spaced to avoid a crowded look) tallest to the back and then cover with a table cloth. Adjust the boxes as necessary until you have acheived a good High-low set up, pressing the fabric down in the spaces between the boxes. Use velvet or satin if you have it. If not, just use whatever you think looks good. Black is a good color if the items are light colored. White or ivory if they are dark colored. Just experiment with that. Then place your items on the boxes and if there is enough space in between you can place items there too. High-low setups are visually appealing and dispel the 'garage sale' appearance.
