The insurance company decided..... that my car was a total loss. (I had a wreck last week. See http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71721) I loved that car. It was the first big purchase I ever made and I was so proud of it. I was kind of wanting to get a new car, but was going to wait until the end of this year or beginning of next. I certainly did NOT want to have to do it this way. I've almost made it through the first week without wheels. I'm still ok with it, but I don't know how long I can keep the positive attitude about it. I like my independence too much. It's not that I really do much during the week except go to work and home, but it's the idea that I couldn't even if I wanted to. You know, go somewhere at lunch, or go to the store after work, or wherever. I hate being dependent on someone else for anything. So now I'm working on getting a new car & having it modified for me. I'm trying to not get too excited about it yet, though, because it'll be probably another month (or more) before I actually have it where I can drive it. If I get too excited, I'll start getting anxious & impatient. |
I'm sorry to hear about your car...been there, done that...glad we made it out alive! When we had our accident our insurance company paid for a rental. Do you have that option? |
I was also in a accident last Thrusday,a man in a truck backed into me. I was mad, two payments left on my car. Anyways it goes it the shop Monday and I 'm getting a rental. Sorry about your accident .I hope the time flies for you and you come out all the better for it! |

Oh man... Kristy! Are you serious??? I'm so bummed for you! I know you were wanting a new car, but this is hardly the way to go about it! LOL No luck on finding the rental huh? That really sucks, I'm sorry... I wish I could loan you my car! I can't even begin to know how bummed you must me without that bit of independence... I was without my car a few times and just wanting to run to the store and realizing that I couldn't was so aweful... and your looking at over a month of that! My heart goes out to ya! But on the bright side, you are getting that new car you were thinking about.... What kind of car are you looking at??? I know your not supposed to get excited, but I know deep down your just a littel but jazzed about the idea of a new car... ;) Have you looked? If not... what are you wanting to look at?? Another Mustang?? I know you told me when I was out there but for the life of me I can't remember! k |
Bummer, sorry. My daughter hit someone in our car and the insurance totaled it. I had just put new tires and brakes on and only had one payment left. :( |

I'm looking at an Accord. They're reasonably priced & I've heard lots of good things about them. I've always liked them. You're right, deep down I'm excited about the new car, I just have to keep that part buried until it gets closer to the time where I can get it & drive it. |

Sorry to hear about your wreck and I know what you mean about not having a car. After my wreck I was without a car for a week. The boys had to take me where I needed to go as I was not supposed to drive either. Then no rentals to be found. I finally found the car that I was interested in buying last weekend and the car dealer let me take it for the weekend. I am now the proud owner of a chevy malibu. I love it, sporty, loaded to the hilt and wonderful gas mileage. Honda's are nice too. |
You do know that you do not have to accept the first offer they make you on your car, right? Usually, when insurance companies total out your car, they make very low-ball offers. Stand firm and make sure they give you what it is worth. |
Sorry to hear about your car. I hope you get your new one really fast |
