"Words of Wisdom"... I want to hear from you all......as I have said in the past..I think you all are the smartest bunch of folks I know!!!! My neice is graduating High School in about 2 weeks......I want some great words of wisdom to write in her card....actually..in her book. I bought her my favorite graduation book......"Oh The Places You'll Go"....by Dr. Seuss. It is the best story about all the things and places ahead of us in life. It is a kids book, but rich in wisdom for grown ups!!!! I want to write something really great and profound in the cover....but since turning 50 years old I think my look back on my life makes me want to tell her to "run like a crazy woman and have a blast!!!!" I want to tell her all the rules are crap, to always be true to herself.....and my favorite personal truth....."it is easier to ask forgiveness that to ask permission". I want her to risk trying / regretting doing something stupid rather than never stepping out and really living! Any one have a great saying...or advice????? Did someone say something profound to you???? What moments make you feel the most "alive"???? |

words I would give any graduate a book called..."The Purpose Driven Life"..by Rick Warren. In the first 4 words, the book says what it takes people a life time to learn, "It's not about you"....some people lay on their death bed and finally realize..."It's wasn't about me... |
"Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest." --Mark Twain-- |
"Trust everybody, but cut the cards...." --Finley Peter Dunne-- |
Poem I've always been partial to this poem by William Ernest Henley called Invictus: Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeoning of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond the place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find me, unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishment the scroll, I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul. |
I've always loved that one too, tara! |
Another good one! "Carpe diem, before the diem carpes you!" |

"Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things." David E. Bresler |
Write something heartfelt, and I'm sure your niece will appreciate it. I've always thought helping people out was very rewarding personally, though it might not always be rewarding financially... |
