Mail/Phone Scam My daughter, who is 29 and should know better, just called. She received a letter in the mail from Canada stating that she just won 80,000. She called me & I told her that it was a SCAM and that she should just throw it away. so...She called the phone number in Vancouver, CANADA and the man on the other end said that he would send her a check for 3000.00 to cover a fee and that when she cashed the check and sent another money order for the 3000.00 to another address she would receive her windfall. I love my daughter. Sometimes she just...doesn't get it. After I found out that she called them I insisted that she call the local police or I would to tell them about her good fortune. She just called me back. "Gee mom, what would I do without you?" The deputy that she talked to said that it's a SCAM that's going around in the area. You get a check, you cash a check...they get your bank information and take all of your money and your identity. Plus you're doing his money laundering for him. Explain that to the FBI. It's cruel that those evil ones prey on good people. |
Poor kid! Try not to be too hard on her. We all had to learn by our mistakes, and our parents bailing us out. Thank goodness she has you. Judy |
