Had a wreck yesterday.... I was on my way to work yesterday & it had rained just a little bit. Here in Dallas, there's so much oil & stuff on the roads, that if it only rains a little, the roads get very slick. They're usually ok if it rains a lot, though. Anyway, I was two blocks away from work, hydroplaned & hit someone that works for me. My tires never grabbed the pavement. I wasn't speeding & started to brake way before normal because I knew the road was damp. But I started sliding & couldn't do ANYTHING. I'm ok...sore but ok. My car on the other hand is not. It's got to have serious work done to it. What stinks about it all is that I use hand controls b/c of my height and therefore cannot get a rental. My car is my independence and when that is taken away from me, I get REALLY bummed. I just went out and looked at it again this morning. So I'm really down right now. I was able to drive it home, but it's going to the shop Monday morning. Sorry this was so long....guess I just needed to get it out b/c I'm so bummed. |
car I am sorry to hear about your BAD day...glad you were not injured? Accidents are so stressful aren't they..best wishes |
Sorry to hear about your accident and car! Thank God you were not hurt seriously or anyone else either! I will say a prayer that your car gets fixed quickly so you can get back on the road! Missy |
Glad you werent hurt. I see you are in Irving. That's where my son & his family live. Been there several times, love the area. |
First of all I'm glad to hear you're ok. I know you must be very upset, but remember you can fix the car, but not yourself. |
I am so sorry about your accident. Thank heavens you weren't injured. I know that feeling. I did the same thing driving a 1998 Cougar. Scary, got rid of the car fast. I hope yours can be fixed soon. Carol & Buddy |
Sorry to hear about your accident and hope they are able to fix your car quickly. |
OH NO:( I'm so sorry! Is there nothing that can be done to secure you a rental with hand controls?! I"m glad you're okay:love:! |

No, they don't have rentals with the type of hand controls that I use. |
That seems like discrimination to me:( I know that there's not a ton of folks that need a car with hand controls, but geez, you'd think that there'd be ONE rental company out there that would keep one available or something. I'm really sorry that you'll be without wheels. Did they say how long? |

As for rentals, some companies do have a car or two that have hand controls in them but they are a different kind than what I have and it is completely opposite of what I've got. So it would be like someone trying to drive a car where the gas & brake had been switched. It's just too scary & I'm afraid I'd get confused. There's just too much traffic around here to try something like that. I'm going to call the company that modifies my car for me on Monday and see if by chance they have something like mine. |
Aww, Kristy! Shana told me about your wreck... I thought it was your lead thumb at first ;) jk But when she told me what happened.... I'm just glad your ok... It has got to suck not having your car! I seriously hope you are back on the road soon! How are you getting to work right now? How's your employee? (what are the odds of you actually hitting someone you work with?) Accidents are no fun Kristy, I'm so sorry you have to deal with all of this crap! The desert is just like Texas with the oily roads and lack of rain... a slight sprinkle and we go sliding all over the place too! Its insane! I'm just sorry it had to be you girl! Keep us posted! |

How scarey! I'm so glad you weren't hurt. And I always thought living that far away from snow and ice would make driving so much easier! Guess you learn something new every day. I hope things work out so you have some transportation soon. Having no wheels is rough. |
Thanks. My boss drives right by my place on his way to work, so he's going to pick me up. It's a good thing, but I still hate being dependent on someone getting me there. Even though he drives right by, I still feel like I'm putting him out by having to stop (I know that's not how he feels, but it's how I feel) My employee is ok. She wasn't hurt or anything and her vehicle wasn't that bad, either. Quote:
