Beautiful home!! Looks like you have alot of room, I can't wait to build a BIG house in the next couple years. I want a "farm house" type house, my house that I live in now is only 1200 sq ft. When I bought it 5 years ago it was fine for my daughter and I but now that I am married again it is too crowded. My husband and I just bought a 200 acre farm so I can not wait to bulid a house. I love your kitchen, my dad makes cabinets so I saved the pics to my computer (hope you don't mind that I am a copy cat...LOL).

This is a really interesting thread. I love seeing all the different decorating styles - we are a diverse bunch aren't we?

spectacular!!!!

Your home is spectacular ... here on Long Island that home would be 3 million dollars PLUS!
Land value here is out of the world ...
location location location!
But your home is sooooooo beautiful ...
I would buy that home in a heartbeat! If I were in KY ...
People here are buying homes, knocking them down and building new ones b/c they want the location (20 miles from NYC) ...

Thank you, I just went back to look at your kitchen pics again and they look alot like mine. I meant to tell you on my last post that I liked your cabinets also. Did you glaze them because they look very close to mine. Speaking of copy cats. I would love to know the color of your kitchen. We tried painting our powder room a deep red and it ended up fusia pink. I finally ended up putting wall mud (joint compound) on the walls with a trowel and painting it a neutral color. When we bought this house it had ivy wall paper on the bottom half of this bathroom and I didn't want to remove it so I put the wall mud on to cover it up. I'll show a pic if I can find one.

Congradulations on your farm. You have a real talent in your decorating and I just love your color selections.

Thank you, Monday! We have really done alot to it since we bought it, everything is new except the fireplaces and the kitchen countertops and cabinets, if we stay that is our next big project. I have mixed emotions about leaving it. The farm that we are interested has lots of beautiful acreage and the house is newer than this one (not as big though) but I still love this house the most. I just wish I could pick this one up and move it. Funny how location makes such a huge difference in price isn't it? My best friend lives in the San Francisco area and they bought a house, knocked it down and built a new one just to get what they wanted in the location that they wanted it in. It is a shame that property is so scarce in some locations, isn't it?

You guys can rest assure that I'm going to be asking for ideas when I redo my kitchen. I am totally clueless when it comes to matching and decorating. My poor walls in my living room are bare cause I just don't know or like what I find. How sad...I have no style!

My favorite past time is looking at houses. I'm really considering getting my real estate license because it's such a passion of mine. When we are in the metroplex (Ft Worth) area I can sometimes talk my husband into taking me to look at model homes. I get so many ideas on decorating that way and you can always keep up with the latest styles and colors. My problem is I like soooo many styles it's hard to choose.

Thank you, I wish I could take all the credit, but honestly I really look at alot of other peoples decorating ideas and then try to incorporate them to my style. I've never been afraid to just jump right in there with paint though. My mother always tells me I'm ruining my house until she sees it when it's done. She's afraid of color and I just love color.

I love your bathroom wall. I would love to do that too. My kitchen color I think is Russet from lowes, but I think there is different shades of the russet and I can not remember which one it is. I got a long edger and put the paint on the wall in sections and then I took brush (the ones you use for texturizing in the paint section, the firm natural brissel (sp) ones) and made criss crosses in it and then used a sponge to pat out the darker areas. It took about a couple 12 hour days to do. And around my counters on the back splash I made it look like concrete blocks. I cut news papers in rectangles the size of concrete blocks (alot of them) and I wadded them up in a ball and then un wrapped them and they are wrinkled, then you put the paint on the wall in that section and push the wrinkle paper on there and pat it down and then peel it off, be sure to layer it like bricks and stagger the next layer and make grout lines too. It is fun to see how it turns out.

It sounds like your very artistic. I really like the faux brick look, but I don't know if I'm skilled enough to do it. Thanks for the paint color and techniques. I'm starting to get the itch to do something new.

I'm so jealous of all the beautiful homes! I am in an apartment and not allowed to paint or make any changes :( So I do the best I can with what I've got :) hahahaha

I used the textured roller for my room as well it says to be sporatic but i hated the way it looked so i went strait up and down and got these really cool textured stripes i love it way more than the way they tell you to do it. i had so much fun doing my room. It's fun to go really bold something out of the norm. Besides it's just paint right? I have a downstairs bathroom that i got a ruuber ducky theme in it has the soap holder as a bathtub and the tooth brush holder as a sink soooo cute i was going to paint the lower half blue like a wavy line like water and then cut a bunch of real rubber ducks in half and glue them to the wall in the water so it would be like a 3-d room but i never got the time to do it mabey that will be my next project. Also i want the clear toilet seat with the little plastic ducks inside the plastic lol(i know i'm weird) i would have to repaint this whole house white if i ever wanted to sell it lol

Thank you. Believe or not the balloon curtains in my sunroom are being held up by safety pins. I had looked at some patterns for balloon curtains but I'm not much of a seamstress so I just pinned them up. They look good from the front, but if you look behind they look a little crazy. He He

My 23 year old is in an apartment away at college and he isn't allowed to make any changes either, so I bought some lodge look/hunting themed borders that I knew he'd really like and then put it up in his apartment with nice looking thumbtacks. The tacks that we used actually had that "hammered" look. When he is ready to move, we'll just take it down and either reuse it somewhere else or give it away!

We moved into our house two days before Christmas so I haven't made too many changes yet. We have big plans to redo our basement.. add a bathroom and walk in closet, and add in a fenced yard this summer, but for now I'm so lazy!!

I'm so into clean and classic! I love the look of high end hotels, where everything is stainless, white, open and airy :). 4 of the rooms in our house are pained a neuteral grey/brown and the rest are a buttery yellow.

I'm painting our room bright white to go w/the bright white moldings.. but I'm going to try to be a bit creative w/the basement and other 2 bedrooms!

yorkieK9trainer 03-12-2007 02:53 AM

I hope that no members here have enough information to be located after posting up photos of not just the inside of your house, but more importantly the outside of your house as well. If the numbers are clearly visable especially.
Not a good security practice. We all come in here talking about our family and our Yorkies and now we're posting up photos of our properties on the outside and when coupled w/ a city and state and a first name PLUS the name of your dogs, I guarantee it wouldn't be hard to go and find you.

Please be careful, while this idea is a long shot, I'd only post the interior of your house at most.

Your kitchen is just beautiful. That's the only thing I miss about our old house is my big kitchen with an island. My kitchen now is so small that when my kids all come home we can't hang out in the kitchen like we used to. Can't wait to see your basement when you get it done.

Thank you so much!! The island basically sold me on the house, since I didn't really like ranches much :). This was actually the first and only house my fiancee and I looked at and I really like it now :). The basement is 1/2 way finished.. but it has paneling and I really want smooth walls and recessed lighting down there :)

The only negative about the house is the teensey tiny bathroom!! I'll post a pic, hehe :)

No we don't build them...we remodel them. We had 1 house built for us a few years ago and it was so stressfull so we just buy them and rebuild/remodel...it's much easier! I can't even remember how many we've had through the years but I really do enjoy taking a home that's on the edge and bringing it back to life. Hang in there...stay focused on your goal and you'll have your house someday!

Pic #1 is of the Living Room AFTER we had taken our window treatments down to change them - so the windows are looking a little "bare" in this picture

Pic #3 is another one of the Kitchen (taken from outside on the patio)

Pic #4 is OF the Patio :p

And....THAT'S ALL FOLKS! :D

All your interior and exterior houses are gorgeous . . . . it was so much fun going through the pics. I love colored walls - RED is my favorite. My house is mostly just taupe (except for my kitchen which is a subdued yellow and my daughter's bedroom which is lime) in hopes that we will paint it when we moved it. Alas, that project is still on hold and will be so for a long time :) Just am too busy right now :p

I will try to get some pics soon . . . but I have to warn you all . . . not much decoration as my hubby hates anything on counters:mad: so I had to be "minimalist" for his sake :p
