Passports? My husband and I are going to get passports today. We have everything we need and have already filled out all of the paperwork. My question is, how long should it take after we apply before we will actually get the passports? Thanks!! :) |
I went to get mine last week. The passport office told me 6-8 weeks, but you can rush it for another $65 fee and it would only take 3-4 weeks. |
mine took about 5 weeks but leave plenty of time before you need it |

I would definitely do it sooner than later... My friends kept putting it off last year for a trip to Mexico. They wanted to have a passport and not carry around their birth certificate (before the rules changed.) I think that they both ended up paying around $200. They paid for the rush fee, but still only got their passports 2-3 days before we left on our trip. I'm sure a lot of people are going through that right now, because of the new change in rules. (You can't go to Mexico/Canada without a passport) |

I have 3 stamps in my passport. All to Mexico... :) I should have 4, but the first time that I went to Cabo, they didn't stamp it; I was so sad!!! My boyfriend, at the time, was going to have to buy an extension to his passport because he had so many stamps!!! :) I think that I'll be getting another stamp this summer. We're heading to Cabo, again! :) Where are you going? |

You can still walk or drive into Mexico without a passport this year, as long as you have picture ID, but you can not fly into Mexico without a passport. If you are staying overnight, you need your birth certificate. I don't know about Canada but I believe the rules are the same. Next year you will need a passport to cross the border by any method. I went ahead and got my passport this year finally after many years of just crossing the border with my birth certificate. Took 6 weeks. The longer you wait, the longer it will take or so they told me at the passport office.:) |
