How can they loose a check??? AAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH |
OMG I hope you have that recept so you can prove that it happened. I hope all works out. |
As long as you have the recipt, your safe, and they will have to credit your account. Don't let anyone keep the receipt though. |
oh no, that really stinks. I hope they can fix that for you. Out of curosity, what bank was it? |
That sux! If they gave you a reciept, it should be in their system. The person you gave the check to should have to pay for it if he/she lost it. I would be raising hell! |
Years ago I used to put cash in the ATM, now I NEVER do.... The bank said they never got one of my cash deposits...SURE YOU DIDN'T!.....I told them I had the receipt from the machine ...She told me the receipt is practically worthless from there.. that you have to come in & get one from the teller before it's any good. If it's from the teller it is completely valid....... She said you could put in $100 in the ATM & enter you put in $1000 so that doesn't make the receipt valid for the $1000.... Boy if it was that easy I could become a millionaire in a week:D |
If you have a receipt they are responsible for anything that goes wrong including putting the funds in your account and absorbing any penalties or fees associated with their error. Do not let that receipt out of your sight or your possession make copies and only offer those if someone wants to see one. Keep the original in your hot little hands while they inspect it. |
my husband use to be a bank manager. if you have the receipt, you will get your money. what dorks!! |
This happened one time to a friend of mine but she threw away the receipt so nothing was done about it. Keep your receipt until it clears the bank. That is always what I do now. Hope you get everything squared away at the bank. |
You have the receipt, right? Did you go down to the bank yet? |
Sorry guys i just got back from the bank i went in and ripped them a new one i told her once that check leaves my hands unless it is a bad check it is no longer my responsibility i do have the check stub and the recipt but i had to call the place that issued the check and tell them what is going on because the bank wants to see if it went through because if it did then they put it in someone elses account if it didn't go through it means they lost it and if i hadn't kept my receipt then i would have no way to prove i put a check in i am so pissed i have to wait till wed to see if it cleared their bank. She did refund my account but it's only good for 10 days if we can't figure out or replace it then they pull the money back out:eek: i dare them to try that they will be hanging by their toes when i'm done with them. I can't beleive this could happen i totally flipped out on her because she was pretty much telling me i had to prove i put a check in there and i lost it then she decided to cooperate with me. I may be a really nice person but don't piss me off because i have the most nasty side you would never want to see. So hopefully i can get it fixed i'm just so mad:mad: :thumbdown |
gosh, sorry about your experience....that is really lame in terms of their remediation efforts. |
That would make me mad too -- what good is getting a receipt if they are not going to honor it? If they even try to take the money back out of your account, I would be down at the bank in person and demand to speak to the branch manager! Good luck. |

Let me give you some information regarding the process... I was the manager of the check processing area for 26 years, for a Multi-Million $$$ Bank... We would process on an average 396,000 checks every night... Yes, sometimes they would get out of order from the tellers, we would try to match deposit to deposit, and at times it was impossible.. We would then run reports and match the tellers transactions for that day...99% of the times the customer receives the correct amount...Most banks will honor the customer... You really need to contact Customer Service, the teller can only do so much...Its the Research Dept. that does all the work....I hope this helps you... |
Similar....but this is wild.. My sister in law went to a bank in Florida and cashed her payroll ck. They gave her 100's bills back. She went to pay her car insurance with cash. The insurance called her that day and told her the 100 were counterfit....!! So, of course she went right back to the bank to question the bank.....and of course she was mad as heck....How could a bank give counterfit 100 dollar bills......and they were jerks.too....she had to call the police, and all this other crap.....and they KEPT HER MONEY....the bank refused to do anything...... After several attempts....she finally got her money back, days later........but not after she threatened them with an attorney....and then they tried to KEEP her 100 dollar bill....!!!      No offense....but, I dont blame her for being angry.... |
Update  I am at my wits end today! I had talked to the bank manager yesterday morning and thought i had most of this resolved but i was wrong! The bank manager had called me around noon yesterday and told me the money would be back in my accoutn last night well at about 6 pm i checked my internet banking and it wasn't there well i got angry and caled the branch but the manager was busy with anohter person so i talked to a teller who relayed the message back to the manager while i was on the phone she told me they were sorry and they put the money in as i was talking to her. Well i after we were done i checked my account again and seen they had put the money in there but it wasn't avaiable so i called back and she said it would go in that night and be available at midnight so i said ok well...... I got up today and checked my account and guess what no money it doesn't even shoe the deposit was put in there! :thumbdown so i tried calling the branch but they are closed today so i called the 800 # and talked to the customer service person who told me they have no record of the deposit:eek:  I then explained what they told me and she said that there was no way they could've put that money in my account and had it available today so they pretty much just lied to me to get me off the phone knowing they were closed today i am so pissed i don't even know what to do i am ready to scream!!!!!!!!!   It's one thing to loose my check but to lie to me about putting my money back in my account this is a big no no and i don't think i can keep my cool this time i might need someone to bail me out of jail come Monday morning after i go postal on this wench! |
It seems to me that there is no interest in resolving this issue in a manner that is right or beneficial for you. I would recommend that you begin a journal and write down each and every contact that has been made regarding this dilemma. The very best that you can do for yourself is have an accurate accounting for everything that has ocurred and has been said. Make sure you note the name of the person you spoke with, times, dates....anything pertinent. You may need it and documentation is a very effective tool. It also helps you to keep everything straight in your own mind so that when you need to discuss it with someone, you have the notes that you can refer to for accuracy. All the best to you in seeking resolution. I find that most banking institutions seek only to cover their own behinds and have no regard for the impact it has on you. Quote:
