Did any of my california neighbors just feel this earthquake?? OMG my girls went nuts and it literally rolled under my house so it felt a lot stronger than the 4.2 they are reporting! Ok...hair standing straight up right now! Still nervous! Man I hate surprises!!

Oh wow, they just reported it but I didn't feel a thing. Maybe I'm too far from the area. I'm just glad you guys are ok. Give the babies kisses for the scary shaking.

Didn't feel it here in central Cali. I hate those things,scare the poop right out of me!

We're ok!! Thanks for asking!! And haven't heard of any reports of anyone that was harmed. Just some people had things fall to the floor and stuff - even grocery stores. Then a nice aftershock and now I read another unrelated quake happened to the north. We've had a few lately huh?
We bought this house 2 years ago and I've felt 2 good quakes here, and this house rocks like no other! So scary!! I must be RIGHT under a fault line or something :eek:

Glad you are all okay. I have an irrational fear of earthquakes. Sure I know they are to be feared but I gave up a very lucrative promotion because I would have to move to CA (I retired instead of transferring.). So where do I live instead? The Gulf Coast --where we have had to ride out several hurricanes. I know it makes no sense, but I guess that's what phobias are -- irrational. I think hurricanes are easier on my nerves because we get advance warning. My fear is the danger that sneak attacks like these tornados and earthquakes. No real escape.

Is it just the news reporting that is more intensive, or are we having a huge proliferation of catastrophic weather/natural disaster events?

Silly isn't it? I've lived here my whole life and when a good friend of mine said they were packing up and moving to Fl, I was like "are you nuts?" lol! You are so right about not having any earthquake warning here, but then all the hurricanes out your way give you "notice" yet SO many people still die and lose so much. So what good is the warning if there is really no hiding from it? Or at least thats how I see it from "here." haha - But yes, it is silly how we try to rationalize our fears! I just visited Fl for the first time in Jan because I am afraid of flying AND not too thrilled about the "unexpected" out there!

I heard there was an earthquake in Oakland about a week ago... talk of another big one coming?

I am 45 minutes from Bakersfield. I didn't feel it either. It has been a long time since I felt an earthquake here. That makes me pretty happy.:D :thumbup:
