In desperate need of reassurance!! Alright so monday I go in for surgery. It is a minor surgery and you would think that considering this will be my 6th surgery in six years that I would be use to it. And for the most part I am. But I am scared and worried about the anesthesia, I have complications when waking up. Each time I go in for surgery it gets worse, they have a harder time getting me to come out of it without problems. My mom is there for me every time and she says it scares her to death when it happens. And it just keeps getting worse each time. The doctors have tried figuring out why this is happening and how to stop it but they haven't really had any luck. They try different anestetics and other medicines to help but nothing has really worked yet. Maybe I am worrying over nothing but considering how bad it was last time and the fact that it has gotten worse each time gets me thinking how bad the next time will be. I am trying real hard not to think about it but it is getting closer and closer to monday which makes me think more about it. I am going to be a total wreck when monday comes, lol. So I guess I just need your reassurance and prayers that everything will go smoothly without any complications this time. |
:( I understand how scary this is! I have bad reactions to anesthesia, and a really hard time waking after. I recently had my wisdom teeth out and was petrified. I told my doctor my fears (over and over- he was probably sick of it!) and they said they'd monitor me very closely. I still got very sick and even threw up while under (which is not good). I also think because I always have a hard time waking up they didn't give me enough, and I woke up during surgery as well. It was awful. Sorry!!! I'm supposed to be giving you reassurance. :( I hope everything goes well. Is it going to be in a hospital setting? |
Aww, I don't blame you for being scared. I would be terrified. But, the Dr's have gotten you thru every time, so you just have to believe in them. They know what to expect and will be prepared for it. I'll keep you in my prayers for a successful and uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery. |
Are you having a surgey that a spinal could be used instead of puttting you to sleep? Probably not or they would have already done that. My daughter had her wisdom teeth out and they had a hard time waking her up. I have worked in surgery and seen that some people are harder to wake up than others but they do wake up. I think that you will do fine, just be sure not to eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery- that is important. |
 :kiss3: It'll be fine, don't worry! |
My husband says that if they cannot wake you up from the anesthesia, you would eventually wake up on your own. The reason they wake you up early is to check the vital stati and to ensure you are fine. Please don't worry, I am sure you will be fine. Best wishes. p.s. Mia sends lots of puppy kisses :) |
