help ASPCA clean up PA puppy mills! to all my YT friends: Known as the "Puppy Mill Capital of the East," Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, has the highest concentration of puppy mills of any county in the United States. At last, the state's Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement have introduced regulations that could help put an end to some of the inhumane practices considered "routine" at these high-volume dog breeding facilities. The great news is, you don't have to live in Pennsylvania to weigh in on this issue! The ASPCA supports the proposed regulations and wants your help moving them forward. If you have been looking for an opportunity to do something about puppy mills, this is your chance! What You Can Do Take action now to support Pennsylvania?s efforts to better regulate this industry! Please go to this web page: https://secure2.convio.net/aspca/sit...1mzx0w1.app23b There you will find a letter of support that you can print, sign and send to Pennsylvania?s Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement. Thank you for your continued support of the ASPCA. Together, we can really make a difference in the lives of these dogs! |
thanks so much. this is great |
I got this email too! I will be printing my letter and mailing tomorrow :) |
I live in PA, and believe me I want the puppy mills shut down! But...I heard a radio interview a couple of weeks back with a couple of inhome breeders with small, one breed operation. They said this legislation would also be putting them out of business. They said they would not be able to meet all of the requirements (cost) and that the number of dogs in their place in an entire year are the number that are counted to determine whether or not they need to comply. I forget the exact number, but it seems to me it was surprisingly low. I'd love to hear if anyone here has more information on that. Before I send my letter, I need to look into this more. What about our great pa breeders here??? Maybe one of them can shed some light. |

HERE GINGER I copied this off that website - this needs to be done in ALL States and I'll be doing a letter - thanks for the hookup The commercial breeding industry has made a number of inaccurate and potentially damaging statements about the proposed regulations. The proposed regulations will not impose restrictions on small hobby breeders who raise fewer than 26 dogs in a year; nor will the regulations impact dog shows, dog parks, or other dog events held in the state. The regulations are aimed specifically at regulating large scale commercial breeders. |
Just printed mine out. I'll be copying it and having my family members send their own out. Thank You Alison for bringing this up. I sure would like to see a specific thread for this so it wouldn't get lost. |
As you all can see, I'm from Lancaster, PA. I feel so bad that were known as the Puppy Mill Capital of the East. But I also feel that title is well deserved, for lack of a better word. Thanks for posting that webpage. :) I plan on printing that out and sending it. |
