Hi guys!! I went for my 1st laser hair removal treatment this am and let me tell you, it was PAINFUL!! Seriously, looking back it wasn't that bad, but in the moment I thought I was going to die! :p It feels like a really bad burn or like being snapped with a rubber band!! I'll be so glad when it is over, I am sure it will be well worth it! :)

You can do it! If you have ever gotten a tattoo, you can do this. She just kept telling me to breathe, I almost felt like I was in labor (not that I know what that feels like, but the whole breathing thing was like that)! :p She gave me some cream to make the next time a little less painful, this time I had nothing. :eek:

I understand exactly where you're coming from! I had Laser Hair Removal last year and I thought it was the worst thing. It felt like a bunch of beestings. After it was finished , the dermatologist gave me a nice big bag of ice because I had a bit of swelling. The pain stopped about 30 minutes after the actual procedure but it still hurt! LOL.

where are you having hair removed. I heard it is very painful on the face. I want to have a brown spot lasered on my face. I too am chicken!

Ummm...right now we are doing my bikini area. :embarasse I have to go back this Thursday for my lower legs and underarms. I really hope those areas won't be as sensitive as the last one!

I have been wanting to get this done for sooooo long.....but the price (I want several areas done) and then I read that the hair has to be a certain length too......I just don't know if I can let me hair grow for awhile....did you have to do this?

Yea I heard this was very painful too, but I have gotten a tattoo before matter of fact THREE!! :rolleyes: but let me tell you my last one was a lower back tribal art tattoo and I almost DIED!!! It was VERY PAINFULL!!! :eek: so I would have to think twice or maybe even three times before I think about laser hair removal!

Actually with laser hair removal, you HAVE to shave the area you want lasered completely. The device they use won't work if you haven't shaved. It is pricey, but I went to Sona Medspa and they guarantee their services. If the hair does come back within th year after you complete treatment, touch ups are free and anytime after that year (for life) touch ups are 75% off.

That is REALLY good. I went to Monarch Med Spa (used to be Sona) and as far as I know, I don't think they have any type of guarantees like that. I got my bikini done and I have been done now for some time and I am still getting some stray hairs and it's SO annoying.

I already tried to complain and it didn't get me anywhere, I think it's TOTAL BS since I payed a lot of money to have this done. I think I am going to talk to them tomorrow about it...it really gets me mad!!!

I am also in the process of getting laser hair removal on my legs, underarms, and bikini. Sorry to say the underarms were the most painful for me. I also have a tattoo and I think the laser is MUCH more painful. But, as the old saying goes, beauty hurts!!! This is certainly no exception.

I do think its worth it though. After the series of treatments is over, the hair never grows back. And even after about two treatments you notice the hairs becoming softer and sparser. You do have to shave the entire area thats going to be treated, because the laser needs to target the root of the hair, not the actual hair itself. It works by killing the root so eventually it cannot produce a hair follicle. I highly recommend it- it hurts like hell while happening, but it takes only a few minutes and then the pain is done. If anyone wants a good place in Maryland, I go to a reputable medical spa in a plastic surgery center and they are FABULOUS! They also do other skin treatments- I'm treating myself to a facial next time :D
