Who's home today because of the ice?

For once the weather men were right.:(
Ice, ice and more ice here in Rockland Cty, NY.
How many of you YT'ers got stuck home today?
Buddy and I are staying warm and cozy in the house only
to make potty trips out during the day.
He was so funny this morning trying to walk on the grass that
was full of ice. He was doing the breast stroke because his legs
kept going out from under him.

Be safe if your out because it will be getting worse as the day
goes on.

Well I am a stay at home mom so I am home all the time but My 6 yr old Daughter is home today because they closed her school. We had freezing rain from yesterday afternoon untill the night then we got a couple more inches of snow

Brutus'mama 02-14-2007 06:58 AM

We're home today and the kids have no school.

heatherjean8737 02-14-2007 07:07 AM

Hope everyone stays warm and safe. The only bad thing about living in Texas is that you never have snow days. I am from Upstate NY so I know all about that stuff. We only get a day off when it floods which happens like once a year!!!

WV~Yorkies 02-14-2007 07:08 AM

My kids are home today. My husband is taking me to dinner later.:D

FlDebra 02-14-2007 07:08 AM

Yesterday was really nice after all the rain passed. My son wore shorts to school. Now this morning it is 44 degrees with a wind that will not stop. I think we are in for some cold weather! I was hoping y'all would keep it up north!

simonandhallie 02-14-2007 07:11 AM

I also am praying we keep power. The ice storm is bad because that's when
the wires come down. Hope everyone can stay warm until this passes.

Im home, but then again I am always home. My two boys are home, no school, they were thrilled about that. My hubby had to go to work, that mail has to be delivered come rain, hell or high water(or ice) LOL. We had ice overnight and now are getting snow. I am so sick of this bad weather, I want Spring!! Lily absolutely hates the snow, she will hold her pee and poo forever!! I let her out to go, when I know she needs to and she just sets there looking at me like "you expect me to go out in that stuff", it is funny but drives me nuts. Now my pom, well he loves the stuff he runs through it like crazy, snow flying up behind him like a snow plow. I guess Lily is too prim and proper to get all messy, Yeah right. Does anybody elses yorkie hate the snow??

Max is just like Lily. He HATES HATES HATES the cold, snow, rain, you name it, except he won't hold it--he'll just go in the floor
Abbie is like your pom--she LOVES the snow

I was supposed to be off yesterday and work today but when I saw the weather forecast I switched days. So, I'm off today and having a great day watching outside. The babies just love it, they keep going out and coming back all wet. There is snow on the ground here (not much) but the bushes and trees are covered with ice. We have lost power a couple times but only for less than 5 minutes at a time. Just enough to make you crazy because after you reset the clocks it goes off again. So I'll just wait until it up for good. The temperature is begining to drop again so now there will be icey roads. Stay safe all!

xnatalie 02-14-2007 12:06 PM

i'm home, my school got cancelled, and i'm not complaining:D

there is no snow by me, just ice:(
and soon i have to take mika out for her walk, so i have to put booties on her, which she hates:p

Tophersmom 02-14-2007 12:21 PM

We got up the past 2 or 3 mornings to -30F....unfortunately my son still has to walk to school and life goes on as if it were 50F! LOL Man, it's cold.

mizzwanned 02-14-2007 02:33 PM

I actually had school and when I got to LI the ice was everywhere! I almost fell a couple times. Then after I had 2 classes they decided to close the school! What was the point of that?? Then the LIRR got stuck for a while because of the ice.

psvidesigner 02-14-2007 03:00 PM

spring come pleasssssssssse

We are all at home burried under about 6 inches of snow and three inches of ice. It took me an hour to clear off my car. But the fun is that I was able to snap a few good photos of the babies snuggled up to one another. Oh the love!

RoxyJosMom 02-14-2007 03:07 PM

I just got home from work. You guys will all be proud of me - I am 56, easy going, don't get mad, scored a 31 on Dr. Phil's test. so this morning I have to shovel my driveway out to go to work. I get the last shovelful thrown, lean against it to get my breath and try to stop the coronary i think i'm in the process of having, when, the snowplow comes aroound the corner onto my street. He approaches slowly, I stand at the edge of my driveway, shovel firmly gripped with both hands, teeth clenched and slowly shake my head as I try to stare him down. He looks at me, slowly nods his head, shrugs his shoulders and proceeds to plow the snow right around my legs! As he passes and I realize I am hip deep in chunks of ice and snow, I throw my shovel at him - careful not to hit the plow since i don't want to get arrested for attempting to damage gov't property. I did refrain from any verbal assults and physical gestures. Finally got out, got to work (pretty hairy drive, that was). Made the suicide trip home to find my driveway looking like every bit of surplus snow had been firmly packed into the entrance of my driveway. So I took my bootless body and spent almost an hour digging and shoveling just to get my car out of the middle of the street. I have a major dip as I enter so I naturally got stuck in it and spun till I could smell rubber burning, then was able to inch in far enough to please the plow, the police, the mailman, the walkers, the boro and anyone else who likes to torment the helpless during times of stress. Thankyou for reading, I am much better now that I have vented. I probably won't feel the need to sneak out and sabatoge the plows tonite.;) I hope everyone who was forced to venture out in this nightmare returned home safe and sound.

ARCHIE 02-15-2007 05:23 AM

Yes Sandy I am very proud of you.:) Sounds like you been through
hell and back in one day. I am glad you got home safe. I am still at
home again today because I can't even lift the icey snow from in front
of my car. It's like cement:eek: It's not worth throwing my back out just
to go to work. So I am using another vacation day (some vacation)
to cuddle up with Buddy. I will go out at lunch time and hopefully
the darn cement will be starting to melt so I can lift it. It was the plow
that put all that cement in front of my car in the first place. I really think
these guys get their kicks out of it. The other side of the street is clear
of cars, that's where they are suppose to deposit it in the first place but do they? I guess it's the same no matter where you live. Hope today
is a better one for you. Can't wait for spring.;)

chachi 02-15-2007 05:35 AM

My Daughter is home again from school today. She only had a 1/2 day and then they are off untill Tuesday for Teacher convention so I think thats why they went ahead and closed. Our side streets are still very bad and most of the schools in the City have a 2 hr delay today

Jaxon's mom 02-15-2007 09:32 AM

I'm at home - but I work from home so nothing different for me. It's brutal outside though - crazy windy. At least the snow stopped.
