OMG it is so horrible outside!! I left to go to school this morning and had 2 come right back! There was ice under the snow and my car was sliding all over the place, I almost crashed so many times! And then the snow was falling so hard and hitting my windshield and I could barely see anything!

Good luck to everyone that has to drive!! Be careful please!

I am glad your okay and at home. We had snow last night and early this morning but now we have freezing rain.

Yep, we've been upgraded from a winter storm warning to a blizzard warning...oh goody. :rolleyes: So, now instead of the 6 to 10" that were forcasted last night we can expect 10 to 15 since we're in this little corridor that was lucky enough to get more snow than the surrounding areas. It's blowing and snowing and just plain nasty outside. I went out to shovel the front deck for the boyz and stepped right off the bottom step because I couldn't even see it...the boyz didn't stay out long! I'm glad I went to the store yesterday...now I just have to find something to do inside all day.

I know the driving up around Chicago can get very treacherous -- glad you made the wise decision to come back home. I used to live in Northbrook and those were the coldest winters in my memory! I remember having to go into Chicago for work, parking my car, trying to walk down the snowy/icy sidewalk, and then getting slammed up against a brick building by a wind gust. My cheek was all scraped -- you could see the ridges from the brick imprint for weeks. I think I might have made my decision to retire in the south that very day!

omg the same thing happened 2 me! i was walking out on the deck to go to my car and i must have skipped like 2 steps and my mom almost died! she was so scared and warned me not 2 leave lol but i left anyway, just to come right back :rolleyes:

When we were showing our house in Florida a man from Scotland looked at it and asked us where we were moving to. We told him we were heading back to Illinois and he looked shocked. His reply was "The Midwest...man...you people are a sturdy lot!" He went on to say that he could never handle the wild weather we get here and he thought we were brave for heading back home! Is that the impression other people have about us Midwesterners?

We have been watching your weather because My Husband has a courier company and one of His drivers drives to Peoria Ilinois every day. He just cancelled his route for the day. Last week when it snowed over there one of his drivers was hit by a semi. Luckily She didnt have any injuries but the van was totaled.

I'm gald your driver was o.k. and I'm glad you cancelled that route for today. Most likely they would be coming in on 74 to Peoria and that's pretty bad right now.

I'm glad you are home safe and sound.

We are getting freezing rain right now. I am racing against the clock to get my last load of laundry done before the power goes out. I just expect that nowadays since it seems to go out at the drop of a snowflake. Yesterday it went out for 45 minutes and it wasn't even raining yet. The worst part is that I have been sick for the last 2 1/2 months and dread being in the cold again.

Like I said before...you guys in the warmer states... ENJOY!

My daughter called this morning all excited...They are predicting more snow here too...like 1 to 2 FEET! GOD! we don't get snow all winter then get slammed!! I haven't started my new job yet, THANK GOD! But hubby has to go to work...he works at night so I'm not sure if they are going to close the shop or not..the storm is supposed to start tomorrow night and END Wednesday night...Yup! sounds like we are getting it good!!

And Jessica!!!!! Don't make me come down there and tie you to a chair!! STAY INSIDE!! you don't want to fall!! NOW! Listen to your Auntie Brenda!! LOL

Me too...that's why I did the laundry yesterday...just in case! It's actually kind of cool...we had a heavy snow in Illinois in 2000 but the last big snow I remember was when I was younger.

It is horrible, I drove my dtr to work and it took and hour longer than normal and I was so scared. Them I have to pick her up again and then she has a class tonight in Wisconsin, we live near the Il WI border but it is all open spaces and that's where the blowing and drifting will be so bad. I hope the Professor cancels class otherwise I think I will be driving her and waiting at the college during her class. Oh joy! I want spring!!
Jessica DO NOT GO OUT! It is way to dangerous for pregnant women to go out.
