Possible Scam?? My husband has been looking for a new truck and I came across one on ebay that was selling pretty cheap and I emailed the person in the ad. First of all they said that for "some reason" they could not receive the ask seller a question through the add and to email them directly. What was suspicious is that for the truck vin # they put 111111111. Pretty fishy right??? Next I emailed him and asked him why he was selling it so cheap and if it had a salvage title and so forth. This is the response I got to this email: Hi, I know that you have many choices on eBay and I appreciate that you contacted me.Although I am registered in the US, but I recently moved in United Kingdom (where my family is from ) and the car is being shipped from here. I bought this car from US and i want to sell it in US because the car is still registered there. You don't have to worry because the car will come with all documents that you need for registration. Also the car is still registered there so you don't have to pay any import taxes or any other fees. You will get from me the keys the title also a bill of sale in your name and signed by me.I made the auction for US due to the fact it's US version (left handed), meet all the US standards and also because here in United Kingdom is very difficult to drive this type of vehicle,A left hand drive in a country where all the cars have a right hand drive. I sell it so cheap because i can't find a buyer here in United Kingdom.I want to sell it in US because the car is still registered there.I made the auction for US because nobody wants to buy it and so instead of keeping it in garage I decided to sell it to someone back in the US.The car is in a perfect cosmetic and engine conditions, and meticulously maintained. No damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, runs and sounds awesome, the engine has never been repaired or something like that, never been into accidents and it is as advertised .If the car is not how i described it, i will offer a full refund, upon the return of the item in original condition (return postage at my expense). It will be insured during transportation and will be delivered at your front door in maximum 2 weeks. Final price is $ 7,500.00 (this price includes the shipping and insurance). I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate, the financial part of this deal will be manage by a third party ,in this way both of us will be protected. So if you really want it please give me an email as soon as possible. Thank you! I am thinking this is a BIG SCAM!! Can someone else tell me what they thinK:confused: |
I would keep looking. :) |
if the vin #'s were 1111111 a scam!!! |
I also went back to try to find the auction (should have saved it the first time) and I can't find it anywhere on there now. |
You know, when someone feels the need to say, "this transaction is 100% legitimate," it becomes so obvious that it is not. |
Sounds fishy. Esp. since they wanted you to email them outside of eBay, which actually isn't allowed by eBay. |
Run....I had a friend last month that was going to buy a quad off ebay motors. I checked it out with Ebay for them and ebay says it never goes through a third party or uses Western Union. I am sure if you email ebay they will pull the ad. If it sounds to good to be true especially on Ebay, pass and find another deal in the states. I saved my friends $5,000 by investigating the ad for them. Good Luck finding a truck! |
omg run the other way. anytime they mail you back a response a mile long they are a scam. i ask sellers ?s all thetime and they usually respond like really short and let me know if you have more ?s. but you have to be sooo careful when i search for stuff on ebay i use the part where you can search like up to so many miles from you rhouse and i get items that are within driving distance for me. so i can go and pick them up if not i look at their feedback and if they are selling soemthing new or you know alot of stuff i usually just look and if they have less than 100 than i dont bid. i love ebay though |
Possible scam ?? for sure a scam |
yeah its a scam. Why would he want to bring a Truck to the UK?? the gas its OUT THE "A" there and he would have to have it changed to the standers of the UK to even drive it there... the only way he could drive it there and not have to change it over to the UK standers,is being in the US Army... its a SCAM!!! |
