Wear fur? 1 Attachment(s) You ever wonder where the fur came from that trims your coat collars? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raccoon_Dog Raccoon dogs are animals that resemble raccoon but are listed in the canine family. They are native to Japan, Southeastern Siberia and Manchuria but were introduced to the European part of the Soviet Union and have spread rapidly since. Raccoon Dog populations have declined in recent years due to hunting, fur trade and fur trapping, urbanization, an increase of animals associated with human civilization such as pets and abandoned animals, and diseases that may be transmitted between them. An investigation by three animal protection groups into the Chinese fur trade in 2004 and part of 2005 asserts that there are an estimated 1.5 million raccoon dogs being raised for fur in China. The report claims that killing methods include first hitting the animals on the head with a stick or slamming the animal into the ground to stun them, but that "a significant number of animals remain fully conscious during the skinning process and started to writhe and move around." Video taken during the investigation? http://www.all-creatures.org/anex/raccdog.html ...shows a raccoon dog apparently conscious during and after the skinning process. A 2005 follow-up article by the Beijing News reports: "On this particular day around half the raccoon dogs and foxes were skinned alive like this." On 22 December 2006, fur-hooded jackets made by the Sean John clothing company were pulled off the shelves of Macy's Department Stores when the nation's largest animal protection organization concluded that the garments were actually made from raccoon dog. Previously advertised as a faux fur product, they were later identified. Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States, added that the issue is an industry-wide problem and its investigation demonstrated that retailers and designers aren't paying close enough attention to the fur trim they are selling. The Humane Society of the United States launched an investigation into one of the jackets manufactured for the rapper Jay-Z's Rocawear clothing line, and discovered it contains real fur from a raccoon dog. The organization claims the raccoon dogs, which are indigenous to Asia, are skinned alive for their coats. More video links to animal fur in China: URL REMOVED BY ADMIN [NO LONGER A VALID LINK] |
OMG I feel sick. I watched that video and now I know I'm going to have nightmares. :( |
:unlove::cry:::cry::unlove: :unlove::cry::unlove::cry: Oh, the shame of it. Surely these can not be considered my fellow human beings. Why, I couldn't even insult animals enough to call them animalistic. They must be sub-human. God gave us dominion over beasts. Along with dominion came the responsibility of stewardship. We are supposed to care for them. I believe these people (sub-humans) have their reward coming to them. It is too bad that we cannot do anything to stop it other than trying to enlighten others so that they do not support it by purchasing products that derive from this heinous activity. :2omg::cry::unlove:::cry::unlove: |
OMG. That made me sick. I have never seen anyting so cruel in my life. How can people do this? |
KEEP posting about this because people just don't know this is happening.... I saw the videos a long time ago and they made me sick. The days of fur coats should be long gone but it seems they aren't. Those poor animals suffer terribly in their lives AND in their deaths. It's just sickening.:( |
I only looked at the still photos, I don't think I can watch the video. That is so horrible, I have no words. |
So horrible. I often wonder why people still buy fur.. I see so many people with fur trimmed jackets they are so trendy right now. Do they not know? I don't get it. |
I cant watch the video. I saw one where animals were being skinned before and it made me sick to my stomach. I dont understand why anyone has to wear fur |
A friend of Paulathegroomer actually went to New York to talk about this to Congress. If anyone is interested in seeing the news clip, e-mail me since it's a realplayer video, I can't post a link. Her name is Debbie McMillan. txshopper73@sbcglobal.net |

I so bought a coat from burlington coat factory about 10 year's ago and i wore it for just about 3 month's and there was a story on the new's about how Burlington coat factory sold coats with dog fur on them.Well i thought mine was fake fur of course but i looked at the lable and the fur was labeled "Mongolian Dog Fur" i about puked!I took the coat back and they would not refund my money but allowed me to replace it with another.Sick! |
I couldn't watch the video I am apalled by the treatment of these animals to satisfy human vanity. |
I remember the Sean John scam thingie. It's disgusting. I can't stand seeing people wear their big lavish fur coats...prancing around like they are 'all that'. It's just wrong! When I was driving cross country a few weeks ago, I saw a billboard on the side of the road (in Montana maybe?) that said something like "Wear more fur, animal population is good". It was so outstanding. I couldn't believe it!!! |
I would NEVER buy or wear fur........but stuff like this makes me want to throw out my faux fur........... |
