My credit card was stolen! I can't believe this happened to me. I'm so careful with my card. Jeepers! I got a call from my credit card company a few minutes ago asking me if I had purchased some things on-line today. When I said no, they said someone was using my card but all but the last purchase would not be charged to me. The last purchase was a big one and the store denied it and called the credit card company. I only get charged $1.00. Thank goodness for that.:) But now I had to call the credit card company and cancel my card. I won't get a new one for 9 days or more. I have most of my recurring monthly bills charged to my card so I make just one monthly payment plus I get the mileage perks. Now I have to call all those people> ARGH! This is so frustrating and so upsetting. Why do people do thses things? I just can't understand treating other people this way. I am so hurt and angry. :thumbdown  I'm trying to think where I used my card that this could have happened. I know where I used it last. I hate to think that might be where it happened though. |
OH NO that is terrible! I hope you get it resolved quickly and that they find the jerk who did it! |
 Wow, that is scary. Some people need to get a life and get REAL JOBS instead of working to steal other people's money. |
WOW! That is totally scary! Sorry that happened to you. I would feel so violated. I'm glad that you were not charged and that your CC company caught it!!! |
Since I have my card, I think it has to be someone from a store that wrote down my account number. They bought some shoes and clothes and stuff from a camera company! I would be so afraid to do something like that. Besides it being legally wrong, it's morally wrong! |
That is scary. I like it when some places ask to see your ID when you charge. I wish more places did it |
Oh NO! Did they just use the cc #, or did they have your actual card? That is just scary and what a pain in the butt:( I'm sorry that happened to you! |

This happened to us. I can't prove it, but I think it was the pizza delivery guy who did it. We had two mysterious online purchases made right next to each other. And they occurred within an hour after ordering a pizza. Never order a pizza with a credit card, and here's why: They have your name, address, phone number, and when they deliver your pizza, all they have to do is remember your 3 digit code on the back--when it looks like they are verifying your signature. |

This is very scarey, I live by my debit/credit bank card. Hope you find the thief! |
We own our own Corporation but seldom use our debit cards unless it's business travel, etc. We used it at a hotel in Kansas and after we returned home and I checked online to see if the debit had cleared, there were online orders for a couple of car stereo systems, speakers, etc. They were all ordered from out of country. We immediately contacted our bank who handled the whole thing ... it had to be stolen numbers at the hotel and it didn't cost us anything but we are now overly cautious about using debit/credit cards!! Hope you get all this resolved with no cost to you! I hate deadbeats who steal!!! :( |
This happened to me last summer. I still have no idea how my # was stolen, but several purchases were made online over the 4th of July weekend. My CC card company called me that Monday and immediately cancelled my card. I do lots of online purchasing, but I never give my # over the phone and I don't use it at restaurants or anyplace else where my card is given to someone. I haven't had any problems since switching my number and I wasn't responsible for any of the charges, but it was a pain anyway!!! |
Aww, that's just awful! I go crazy when I can't find my credit card. Once I thought I lost it and I looked the high heavens for it and when I couldn't find it, I called the CC company and canceled it......I found it the next day on the desk under a pile of bills. I have never had any unauthorized charges........hope I never do. Hope they catch who did it!!! |
This happened to me once. I was getting gas and I couldn't find my credit card, I looked everywhere and still couldn't find it so I got worried and called the company and asked what the last purchases were, and when they told me my heart stopped. I told them that someone had stolen my card. I found out that it was a girl at work. The nurses share a bathroom/locker room with the registration clerks and it was one of the clerks. I never had 100% proof but she quit without notice when I started talking about it at work and I got her signature from work and it matched the signature on the card and on the security tape at walmart she wore a cap and baggy clothes...and the items purchased on the card was household items including king size sheets and she had just moved into a new place and bought a new king size bed! AND one of the ems guys was room mates with her boyfriend and he got money stolen from his room when she was there, but there is no way to prove it was her...but everyone knows it was. Even though she got away with it with the law, she didn't get away with everyone knowing it was her because I told everyone that I knew and that she knew and so she will have to live knowing that everyone knows she is a thief...I bet those sheet and baskets wasn't worth it now...:D |

Wow! That's awful. Much worse than what happened to me, 'cause you knew the person. |

My husband was sent out a new bank card as his date had expired. He had it 5 days and used it twice The bank rung him and said they were cancelling it.The police had done a house raid somewhere and found a stash of cloned cards and his new card was one of them.Luckely it hadn't been used but to this day we don't know how it was cloned so quickly:confused: Glad you didn't lose out with yours |
There are little magnetic card readers that crooks put in the ATM machines or gas stations that copy your magnetic strip and they can recreate your actual card. This happened to me - i had my card, but they had used a card at the store. That sucks that this happened. Call the vendors that have recurring monthly charges and explain your situation - that way you wont get charged extra fees. |
My hubby and i ran a tab at a bar for the first time once well besides the fact that it took them 45 min to close it i was so mad cause i wanted to go home and it was taking forever well the tab was only $20.00 and my hubby left a $5.00 tip well the stupid lady decided she wanted a bigger tip and charged us $55.00 for a $25.00 tab:eek: I was so Pissed i called as soon as i caught it and the girl said o i could't read what he put on there i was like ya right we were refunded the money but just think how many cards she probably did that to. Also the Mcdonalds by my house hates when i come through the drive thru because they never ask for ID (NEVER) so when i get up to pay and they take my card and don't ask i say i need to see a manager now (lol) Then the manager comes to the window and i politley say Do you know how many people come through here with stolen cards and you can't take 5 seconds to check an ID? They always apologize and ask for ID then i'll sit there for a min and watch them ask every car for their ID it's hillarious lol And everythime i go back it's the same thing they don't ask so it starts all over again Muahahahahahaha I'm so evil. If more people would ask this wouldn't keep happining. Credit card companies are making it so easy for them to like the mastercard go pass thing you just wave it in front of the machine no swiping or putting in a pin nothing i would never own that no matter how convienent it was. |
That is so terrible!! So very sorry you are going through this. I have a story that does not involve debit/credit card. A couple of years ago, I took my boys out to eat at a local resturant with some friends (hubby was at work so I wasn't cooking). I stopped by ATM and got $40 cash to pay for our meal which was a little over $30. Since there were 10 people in our party, they automatically added the tip in so my total was around $37. I gave the waitress a twenty and 2 tens to pay for my tab (this was witnessed by my friend, her son, and my youngest). Well, a few minutes later, the waitress returns and said, "You didn't give me enough money" and proceeds to open the black book (you know the one I'm talking about) and shows me my twenty and 1 of the tens. I proceeded to tell her the exact amount I had given her in bills and told her she better find my other ten. She wanted to argue with me until my friend, her son, and my son spoke up and said they saw me give her the $40 and how I had given it to her. She started looking around on the floor by my chair and I told her best look in her pocket as that's probably where she'd find my other ten. Well, she turned around and walked off, returning again moments later with my change!!! Funny how that ten magically reappeared!! She then had the nerve to ask if I wanted my change and I looked at her and replied, "Well, since the tip was already figured in my tab and you had the nerve to accuse me of not giving you enough money when you actually pocketed the ten, yes I DO want my change". I found out a few days later that there was a sting going on at that resturant where several of the employees were stealing credit/debit card info and charging big ticket items....they caught the employees who are now sitting in jail and we've not returned to that resturant since! |
I had my card stolen once too...I had used it at Quizznos and I didnt notice that the girl who rang me up didn't return my card to me. I called that night and the card had not been turned in by the cashier. The manager told me that he would review the video that night and call me the next day...well guess what? The video camera had stopped recording a couple of days before and they hadn't noticed it. So he was like "bad news for you because I can't tell you what happened to your card, but good for us because now we know that we need to fix the camera." Luckily I cancelled the card before the girl got to use it, but how dishonest! And she still works there since there is no proof that she stole it. |

Even so, most don't. Walmart is the worst for not even looking at the back. Every time someone does, I always tell them thank you for doing so. This inevitably leads to them saying how mad some folks get when thay do ask. Stupid people. If they only realized. Sometimes, waiters in restaurants copy the info and utilize it later. This happened to my sister. |

I rarely have someone ask for my ID - even after they see the "SEE ID." So when they do ask, I always thank them for asking. |
