Need prayers
 
My cousin just called me...her sons pitbul bit her pekinese in the face. Unfortunately her pekinese is going to lose her eye. I'm here at work crying and just so devastated. Her girl is such an angel...I wish I could be with my cousin right now. She has to put her sons pitbul to sleep today and her son is not taking it well. She told me her younger sons school just called and told her that her little one is at school crying..he seen the whole thing. She's confused but I told her she has to do what she has to do. Please pray for her. Past 2 weeks have been horrible for her (other issues).

How sad for everyone involved. Poor little one who was attacked. Has
the pit been aggresive in the past? After this I hope things ease up
for your cousin. The only thing good about this is one of the kids
wasn't bitten.

The pit was not aggresive than again she is still a puppy. I guess it was over a bone she was chewing. I told my cousin the same thing...it could have been one of the kids. I'm going to take my cousin to pick her up from the vet today. My cousin is the sister I never had...we are very close and I feel so bad that I cannot be with her at this moment. She thinks her son is going to get depressed after she puts the pit down. I also asked if she can try to find a home for the pit. I just hate to see her have to do that..she's already hurting because she has to do it.

I am so sorry to hear such sad news! I will keep them in my thoughts! Hope they do not have to put the puppy down, he was just trying to keep his bone/chewey like any other dog. This is so sad!:(

I know ....I have to call her...after she told me the story.. I felt like maybe she (the pit) didn't mean it. Mine do the same thing..especially Mimi. When she has her pig ears she will not allow Timmy near her. She doesn't mind us grabbing it but Timmy can't.

That is so sad, I am sorry about the puppy that was attacked and I hate to hear about the pit bull that has to be put down. Can she rehome him instead...I don't think the pit bull was really being any differnt that what our yorkies would have been it is just that there jaws are so much more powerful that they their bites are much more likely to cause injury.

I'm trying to get ahold of her and see if she can just re-home her. I know deep down inside she does't want to do it.

My maltese(4yrs. old) is very protective of her chewey's when she is chewing on them and just growls a low growl as a warning to Toby. But if they are laying there and the Yorkie gets hold of it, she could care less. I really think, the immaturity of just being a puppy had a lot to do with it. jmo

I think her putting the pit down is making it harder on the son. He might end up thinking it was his fault somehow. Make sure she lets him know that it wasn't his fault. Some dogs are more aggressive than others when it comes to their things.
I'm sure if it's a puppy she'll be able to find him a home. She can try craigslist, a rescue, or a no-kill shelter. Just make sure that she tells them the dog needs to be an only pet, no child home.

Oh no . . . . that must have been so traumatic for the child. Perhaps they can just give him away instead of putting him down to sleep. I personally am scared of that breed :eek: but I know it is just all about physical appearance. . . :) Poor pekinese :(

How awful. We had something similiar happen when I was a kid. We use to raise pekes. We had 2 within just a few days of each other have litters and one was always very mean when she had babies. We knew not to go near her or even try to pet the puppies unless she was out of the box.

She snapped at a pup I don't remember if it was one of hers or from the other litter and put it's eye out. Of course we didn't go through having to have one put to sleep because of it.

I just can't imagine what they are going through. I wish them all the best in this difficult time.

I feel so horrible because my cousin is torn right now. She said she loved her too but that wasn't the first time she snapped. I have mixed feelings about the whole thing but I know she's hurt right now and I'm not going to tell her I felt she should have done something else other than take her to the aspca.

I'm also so mad about the vet she called and they stated they couldn't do anything for her if she didn't have money. That vet is my vet and I think the world of them but now I have mixed feelings about him. I'm thinking I shoud see another vet. She finally called one of her customers (my cousin works for our local newspaper) which is a vet and they told her to come right in and she's 40 mins away. She gave her a break and also set up payment arrangements.

I agree If The pit was not aggresive and she is still a puppy. and it was over a bone she was chewing Then I dont feel the pitt should be put to sleep. Even our Yorkies will fight over a bone They just have bigger and stronger jaws then our Yorkies rehomeing would be so much better

Im so sorry the little dog was hurt and going to lose an eye over it Its so hard on the kids too

Your cousin needs to know that most dogs will fight over bones , food ect.
The pitt should not of been able to have bones around the smaller dog.
The vets did this same thing to me, I didnt have money up front and they refused me vet care. My dog lost an eye and and the vet did not care for him with out money up front and my dog lost its eye over it. so sad.

It was a long night for my cousin and I...just wanted to let everyone know that Mitzi is home and doing great. My cousin is not the one thats doing good right now. Please keep her in your prayers.
