Animal Hoarders I just finished a book which talked about animal hoarders, and was flabbergasted to read how ill some of these people are that continue to bring more and more animals into their homes, when they can't really provide for them properly......this is an interesting article..... http://www.hsus.org/pets/issues_affe..._hoarding.html and a description of a hoarder Because animal hoarders quite often appear to lead normal lives, it's important to recognize when a person's fixation with animals has gotten out of control . The HSUS defines an animal hoarder as a person who has more animals than he or she can properly care for. Another defining characteristic is the hoarder's denial of his inability to care for the animals and his failure to grasp the impact his neglect has on the animals , the household, and the human occupants of the dwelling.  |
Animal hoarding is so sad. I've seen several episodes of animal hoarders on Animal Cops. |

thank you for the info I am actually working on something like this now. |
Yes, it is very sad. We had a case here recently of a woman who had started out running a small rescue, but it got way out of hand. When the authorities went to check out the situation, they found over 160 dogs at her place. She wasn't breeding them, and was really trying to take care of them, but she didn't know how to say enough is enough and ask for help. She was trying to take care of all of them herself. |

What was the name of the book? I agree animal hoarding is very sad. |
i agree its really sad, but i think that these people really do think that they're helping the animals, but they just have problems:( |
Hoarding is sad. There is a lady we know...who was so bad about it. People would drop them off at her house and she had close to 200 dogs. Most had mange and other skin diseases. She was turned over to ASPCA and they came down and got them. Most were destroyed b/c of their conditions. She had them in her house, her backyard, a farm shed/kennel...it was so sad. Here house was NASTY because of them. She actually made the news and the dogs theat were saved mad it to St Louis and are being adopted out. |
