For my Dad
 
who said goodbye one year ago tonight:

The Fallen Snow

Sorrow and snow are white
The same on a winter's night
That fall, but sphere's apart
on fields and on the heart.

The fallen snow makes strange
A known and narrow range
Where eminences lost
To vision, snow-embossed

Above the whitened plain,
Stand into sight again.

That was beautiful...I still have my dad at 78 and he's my rock. I don't know how you all do it missing their dads like this......I tighten up just thinking about life without mine :(

I lost my Mom in 2003 then may Dad 2006 New Years Day. I will tell you V ,no matter how old we get when we lose both parents it is an awful lonely feeling.I feel like an orphane.:(
I will never be the same ,part of my soul went with them.

Losing a parent is tough you never get over it, I have just found a new way to live. I lost my mom 5 years ago to breast cancer.

ONe of my favorites:

God swa she was getting tired,
and saw a cure was not to be:
So he put His arms around her,
and Whispered "Come with me"
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer,
and saw her fade away;

Although we loved her dearly,
We could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest:
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best

I couldn't agree more. I lost my dad in 1989, I was only 34 years old at the time and my mom passed away in 2003. Every holiday, especially Christmas, when we leave my mother-in-laws house, we just go home cause my parents aren't here to go visit anymore. It's such a sad feeling. Although we do go to the cementary to put lots of decorations on their graves. That makes me feel good. When were all finished decorating, I stand back and look and think when other people see how pretty it looks that they will think, boy those people sure were loved. :love: And they were.

I love that one too. It was used for my Gramma's obituary when she died.

I wanted to say that I'm sorry for your losses everyone. I can't imagine life without my parents. :(

Thanks everyone. This has been a hard day. I spent most of the day mindlessly netting, trying not to think about last year.
To those who have lost one parent or both, my sympathy.
To those who still have one or both parents, make lots of memories!

RRC: Forgot to tell you last night when I posted in response to yours. I thought your poem was really nice. I am sorry that you lost your Dad. I know how hard that is. Your poem about the snow, so reminded me of my Dad. He was always there for me to drive me to work when it snowed, cause he knew I didn't like to drive in it. Your Dad will always remain in your heart and the great memories you have of him will help to give you peace. Take Care...
