Summer in the City! 1 Attachment(s) Summer is here in NZ. and i am soo lucky where I live has tonnes of native trees growing round it and I have a resident tui. (the Tui is a type of bird found only in NZ) I wake every morning to the lovely sound of his song. So I thought I would share it all with you. I am in dial up hell and this took TWO HOURS to upload! So you must all go and see it. :D http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?use...cdate=20070127 Sorry about the wind noise but you can still hear the tui's calls very clearly. I've also attached a picture of the flowering pohutakawa by my deck. This is another NZ endemic species and it's also called the NZ Christmas tree because it comes out in a riot of red flowers at Christmas time - if it's warm enough - this year they were a little late. |
I heard just a second of the bird. Got lots of wind sounds though. Bet it's really pretty where you live. :D |
I have a friend who spent 2 weeks vacationing in New Zealand and Australia (they stayed with friends in NZ) and the pics she brought back were unbelievable. What a beautiful and peaceful place to live. Not to mention the wildlife that you don't see anywhere else. Thanks for sharing your bird's song - it's beautiful. |
Thanks so much for sharing!! With snow on the ground and more on the way, it's a wonderful thing to know it's green and flowering somewhere in the world!! The bird was very refreshing to hear!! ;) |
Wonderful video and spectacular tree!!! My husband is a Vietnam vet and he spent his rest and recuperation time in Australia. He has always wanted to return - and we both want to go to New Zealand also - even moreso than Australia. He says it is the most beautiful place on earth. I don't know if we'll make it as he has major health problems now - but maybe!!! :) |
I'm glad I could bring a bit of summer to you. I organised a yorkie walk to the beach today and the weather was just lovely. I think I got a little sunburnt! I'm sitting down now with a cold beer, bare feet with sand still between my toes and two dead yorkies - dead in a good way - tired out!! I think NZ is a fabulous place to live. Not that I'm biased :D ;) . Not nearly enough yorkies though. All that scenery in the Lord of the Rings movies was ALL New Zealand - nothing was CGI. And a lot of it was filmed in and around Wellington - where I live. But NZ is a long way away from everywhere! If y'all come to Welly I'd be pleased to show you the sights - and so you can meet D&D and get a yorkie fix on your holidays - I wonder if you'd hear an accent in their bark? ;) :p :D . |
Wow, a tree without snow in it! Amazing! Love the bird. It definitely brightened my day! |
