Has Any One Had An Appendix Attack OK, I've been having this pain on my right side down low since 3:00 yesterday... I'm worried it might be my appendix but its not that terrible bend you over kind of pain that people say they have with appendix. I wonder if it could be my ovary??? Wondering if I should wait til Mon. and see my doctor or go to the hospital and have it checked out. Its a constance pain but its tolerable. What do you guys think??? Anymore know symptoms for appendix?? |

Thats the only symptom. I just got off a heavy period on thurs. I know they sometimes with appendix you feel sick to your stomach and sometimes a fever. I dont have any of that. Does anyone know what they symptoms are for ovarian cyst??? There is also like this weird pressure there too. Then at times the pain will get worse, but it doesnt bend me over. Just hurts bad |
Is the pain in the lower front or???? lower back??? May be a kidney or bladder stone...the pain will radiate from the back to the front.....I originally thought mine was an ovary too..... And I am still fighting my second one......they SUCK! |

I had pain in the same area. My husband and I were on a trip and I was terrified because we weren't home. We lived in Chicago and had gone through Louisville where we dropped off our 18 month old son for my parents to watch while we continued on to a business convention. On our return to Louisville to pick up our son the pain was so bad that I had to go to the hospital. They did all kinds of test to check everything... dye for the kidneys etc. Because my white count was elevated they finally felt that it was my appendix. They took me to surgery and found my appendix was fine...but removed it anyway since it has no function. They found a large cyst on my right ovary and removed it. It was the cyst causing my problem. As they put it... when they removed the cyst they had to wedge off about 90% of my right ovary but I was still able to conceive...and we then had a beautiful daughter 3 years later. You may just be having this because of ovulating and it may go away. I hope you feel better soon. |
Hope you feel better soon. SOunds like Ovary issues. I would get in to your doctor soon. |
my mom had her appendix out she says you dont want to eat, nausiated, pains you cant tolerate, an if you press in that spot it has to hurt. could also be gas! sorry im having problems with my galbladder now that sucks lol |
OUCH! Whatever it is, I am sorry and hope you feel better soon! I am always sooo afraid of the whole appendix thing!!!!! I worry about that all the time! A few years ago, a guy that lived close to us died from his appendix rupturing. He lived w/ his mother and she said that the went to lay down because of an upset stomach and later that day, she went to check on him and he was dead!!! OMG!!! ---oops, not to scare anyone! But every since then, I just worry about these things! |
I am not sure but I think it is on your right side...here is what I found about it...http://www.medicinenet.com/appendicitis/page2.htm hope this helps and if its your ovaries it feels like some one has a knife in you and it will ease up alittle then get back to a throbing pain...it doesn't go away for awhile....:) |
My appendix ruptured when I was 18, you will definitely know if it your appendix. I was in excruciating pain, ran a temp and was sick to my stomach. I was in the hospital for 5 days on antibiotics after surgery because of all the toxins...It ruptured while I was in aerobics class...never again.... It is most likely your ovary, ovulating or maybe a cyst..if you are still in pain Monday go in and see your Dr. if it gets worse over the weekend go to urgent care...is there a possibility your pregnant? |
You may have appendicitis, ovarian cyst, ectopic pregnancy or kidney stone. If you don't get any better or if your symptoms become worse in any way over the weekend you need to go to the er. Make sure that they do blood work, urine test and a cat scan. I have taken care of alot of people with appendicitis, some of them have had mild pain and nausea, some had severe pain and vomiting. Generally the longer it goes the worse the symptoms. When I was 12 I had appendicitis and I started hurting one evening and my pain was in the middle of my abdomen around my belly button...and then came nausea and then constant vomiting all night, the next day I was so weak I couldn't hardly hold my head up and then my mom took me to the dr and I had surgery. I never had pain that was localized to my right lower side, and I can say that I was never in severe pain. Every one I have ever seen with appendicitis just had that "sick look", instead of sitting up on the stretcher they lay down, they don't hold their head up, they are just plain yucky feeling. Do you feel like that? I hope you feel better and I hope it is nothing and just goes away. But don't ignore it. Anytime you have unexplained pain in your abdomen it is nothing to mess around with. |
You know..thinking about this reminded me that my girlfriend's 3 year old grandaughter just had a ruptured appendix about 6 weeks ago. She is very young and it is really uncommon, but she wasn't feeling well and they took her to her Dr's a couple times the week it ruptured. She just kept complaining about a tummy ache. The morning it ruptured she started screaming ow,ow. ow...holding her tummy, so they rushed her to the hospital and the Dr admitted her as soon as her blood work came back (they figured out it was her appendix) and rushed her into emergencey surgery. Emma spent a week in the hospital because of her age and the concern for infection. If you are still not feeling well, I would go to urgent care and have some blood work done to be on the safe side. |
You don't want to take any chances that it is your appendix. My husband and my daughter both had very vague symptoms not the doubled over pain you think of when you think appendicitis, my husband didn't lose his appetite like you would think and neither of them ran a fever. They ran all kinds of tests including ct's and never could find the "smoking gun" but felt it was best to go in and take it out, when they got in there it was obvious it was their appendix, just don't take any chances. It can turn immediate fast and a ruptured one is not something you want to have to go through. Hope you feel better soon!!! |
The pain is a little better. Not as bad as it was earlier. Thanks for all the advice. If it gets any worse, I'll be going to the E. R. Thanks everyone |
I had my appendix taken out when I was 15. They didn't rupture. My symptons were, pain in my right side, almost like crampy gas pains. my doctor said another sympton was if I could lift my right leg or not, if I couldn't it was probably my appendix, so I couldn't, and it was my appendix. |
Oh my gosh, Denise! I hope you are okay by now! My daughter had that type pain about a year ago and was put into the hospital for a cat scan because appendicitis was suspected. It turned out to be a cyst on her ovary and she was told those can form when you miss a day or two on BC pills...which she had. I hope and pray you are better by now, Denise. Please let me know! *HUG* |
Good luck and just keep on top of it. I was diagnosed with Chronic Appendicitis at 15 and STILL have it... IT sucks:thumbdown |
Been there done that when Appendicitis AND Gallbladder. ICK! Gallbladder was the WORST! With the Appendix, I just felt icky, no appetite, no fever, no energy, continuous acky pain in the lower abdomen that radiated around towards my back. Went to the doctor because I thought it might have just been something I ate or something. They took my blood, did a WBC and it was high. Sent me to the hospital for an immediate MRI and I didn't leave the hospital until the next day after the appendectomy that very night. The gallbladder was a totally different story. Had my son March 25 of 2000. 7 weeks later, I ate a Jr Bacon Cheeseburger from Wendy's that I thought was going to kill me. This time instead of the pain being an acky type pain, it was a sharp stabbing pain and instead of it being in the lower abdomen, it was in the upper abdomen almost in my chest on the right side, still radiating around towards my back. The only symptom I had was the pain...course it was severe enough I thought I was going to have another baby! I told the docs in the ER that night it was worse than childbirth because at least with childbirth you have between the contractions to get your breath and relax, with the pain I was having this time, it was constant. No time to breathe at all. Every breath I took, I hurt worse and worse. Just like a knife was being stuck in me. No matter which way I sat, laid, or stood on my head, it wouldn't go away or even lessen in intensity. Ultrasound confirmed I had gallstones and I went home with pain meds to get me through until I had the surgery to remove my gallbladder the next week, along with a strict order from the docs to not eat anything that had much grease or fat or green leafy vegetables until the surgery (which I still can't do since the surgery - unless I want to suffer the consequences for doing). See, the way it was explained to me is this: when you're pregnant, your gallbladder basically shuts down, because whatever fatty foods you eat do not need to be digested totally, they need to be used for energy during pregnancy. So when I had my son, my gallbladder didn't start to work again normally (remember, my son was 7 weeks old when I had my attack). This happens to alot of women. So once their gallbladder or ducts have been blocked by gallstones and they eat something that triggers the gallbladder to release the bile that it has been storing, it can't. The stones try to go down the ducts that are blocked and causes the excruciating pain that we feel when we have those horrible attacks. |
