jobs for the last two years i have been babysitting but the parents are in no longer need of a babysitter so i am thinking about getting another job! Anyone have any advice about getting a job at 16 or any places that would be good to start??? i need lots of comments about this! Thanks |
Maybe you could apply at a day care center? Good luck:)! |
There is always your favorite hang out spots clothing stores, fast food. What is it you would like to do now? |
I have a 16 year old who is also trying to decide what to do for a job since her babysitting days are about over. I asked her to write a list of the things she likes to do...read, write, movies, clothes, drama, etc I then told her to write her skills, experience and certifications down..typing,CPR, Babysitting, Computers, etc. How often she can work, so it won't interfere with school and sports. She is looking around our area for job opportunities. I told her to try and find something that would be of interest to her. She is thinking of applying at a hospital down the street from us as a jr aide. She is thinking about being a nurse and wants to see if this is really what she wants to do. Good Luck.. |
i am not sure where but i would like to get out of the babysitting/ daycare scene and try something new but i have never had any other job so dont know where id be hired with no experience |
A good place to start (IMO) is retail. You get cash handling experience, sales experience, data processing experience, plus everything else that goes along with retail. Most retail stores will hire an inexperienced worker, and plus if you pick a place you like, you'll get a discount! I worked seasonal at a fave store of mine and got 55% off! |

I would say retail or afterschool program for elementary school kids. I had a friend that did that and she moved her way up. |
Two of my sons got tutoring jobs when they were in high school. If your good in any subjects, then post it on the school board and in the newspaper. Do do dog walking. |
i applyed online to bedbathandbeyond i dont know how many of you are familiar with it but ...... BUMP |
My 16 year old daughter started out by sacking groceries in a grocery store and in a few weeks was running the cash register and checking people out. It wasn't her favorite job, but she didn't mind it and she worked there for a couple of years. |

My dtr started at Penneys and then Factory Card Outlet. Then when she started college she got a job working at a family run publishing home business whee she can utilize her business skills and she makes more. |
thanks to everyone keep them coming |
When I was 16 I started working as a cashier at Target, and worked there till I graduated and left for college. They were great, and very flexible about working around my other commitments. |
