My MIL had a greyhound (passed away nov 06) and he was the most gentle, loving dog, excellent with my kids too ....i would never had considered one before she had Timmy but i would now. |
Many years ago we considered adopting a retired racing Greyhound. All that I read about them was so sad..... how they raced for just a while but then had to be retired and there's a group out there that tries to place them in good homes. I hear though that they are just the most laid back couch potatoes! They love to be indoors and just lay around. Not sure if this is true for them at puppy age but what I read about the retired racers said that. Here's a site with a good description of them.... http://www.rescuedgreyhounds.com/ado...reat_pets.html |
The Italian Greyhound looks like a much smaller version of the Greyhound. It is the smallest of the gazehounds or sight hounds. They are classed in the Toy Group for dog shows both AKC in the US and Canadian Kennel Club in Canada. For more information on the Greyhound and good breeders contact here is the link for the IG Club of America that's also the best place to start for info. http://www.italiangreyhound.org/ |
There is a lady in my building that owns one. His name is Ronaldo and he always wears an Italian Ronaldo football jersey. Very cute and calm. His owner doesn't even walk him on a leash. Super cool. |
