Store owners... If you are shipping out a large order, do you get insurance on it?? |
Yes! Everything over $50.00. For me that is a lot of time invested in the bows. |

It depends on what I am shipping and where its being shipped to. Some things are not easily replaced as Katys Mom stated, her hard work is very valuable, and should be insured! Or products with a high monetary value. Its around major holidays that when most shipments are lost or stolen and they should be insured or at the least getting a Signature Conformation is wise... As of now, I ship priority or better on all of my packages and pay for delivery conformation. However, If I did insurance my customers would have to be present for delivery to sign for their packages. And this might cause problems for those who work outside of their home during delivery hours. I would hate for my customers to be inconvenienced by having to make a special trip to the post office to pick up and sign for a package. Which is why I opt not to use the Insurance unless it is during a high risk shipping season. |

I have never sent anything with insurance, I didn't realize a person had to be present to pick up an order with insurance. However I think in the situation of this order, that is a very good thing. I can not afford to have this order lost...I DON'T want to redo it and there is a lot of expense in the fabric that was used. It's been 3 weeks of very late nights to get it done. I'm stressed about this package...I wish I could hand deliver it! LOL I think I'll just notify the person that it will be shipped with insurance and find out if she needs it sent to her business or home. Thanks for all the info ladies!:ghug: |

I agree with the message above....I'd go for either insurance or signature requirement for the recipient for all large packages. Does anyone know what it entails if a package is lost and there is insurance? Is it a long drawn out proces with USPS and do you get monetary compensation? |

We finally gave up on getting reimbursed because it was such a long process. BUT - I'd rather be safe than sorry. It was a busy season, so I'm sure they had a lot of claims. I would prefer insuring than signature confirmation - the USPS people could be thieves also. Like in my case above, the package could be lost before the recipient ever has to sign for it. |
