Kidney stone...anyone have them??? OMG....yep....spent Mon in ER with a kidney stone....had one 13 months ago and had the surgery. Doc said I had another one that was to high to go get....."would pass sometime". Well....."SOMETIME" is NOW!!!! Oh gosh....worse than having a kid..... ANyone have these? And what happens when it finally comes out..??? Of course I know the "medical? lingo.....I need personal views..... I am out of town and cannot take the Lortab and drive.....urgggggggggggggg |
I have never had one, but have witnessed a friend and two aunts who were dealing w/ them.......sorry, I can only offer support and get well wishes. I know when each one of them had theirs, they were in MUCH pain and can not get around. I think the one aunt (who gets them all the time), takes some sort of medicine that helps break them down.....have you heard about anything like that? They said the same thing - worse then natural childbirth!!! Oh, I hope you are well soon!!!! Would a super hot bath help ease the pain??? What have you been told to do (did the doctors give you anything or any advice)?? |
Yuck... No doc at the ER said....drink lots of water.....so it will come out.....but, it is NOT working......ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh man does this hurt...... guess I should lay down.... |
oh no!!! i hope you feel better soon..... |
omg what is a kidney stone? i just asked a girl i worked with and she said stones that are hard and you have to pee them out throught your pee pee hole, and i said that tiny hole and she yeah, oh my how do you get these? what are they, and where do they come out from? what do they look like when they come out? im squirming in my chair just thinking about it. |
I feel so bad for you! I've never had one, but my hubby has had them a couple of times. I have always heard how horribly painful they are and I wish I had some suggestions to help you. It's when that stone is moving that you get the awful pain because they have sharp things that scrape in the urinary tract or when they are creating a blockage. I will pray that you pass it quickly! I wish I had more advice. Big hugs to you, you poor dear! |
I had one and let me tell you YOU WILL know when that passes through. It feels like your birthing a child made of jagged edge glass  sorry to have to be the one to break the bad news. But you know it also depends on how big it is. It may be small enough to where you will only have a little bit of pain. But drinking loads of water and water and water will be the only thing that will help. |
omg what is it made of? whats the stone made of? |

omg you guys are scaring me, if this something everyone goes through on thier life? ive had 4 kids i dont even want to fell that pain again. |
I had one years ago, you are right, worse than child birth. I was in the ER on pain medicine for quite a while, don't recall ever passing it, so I hope I don't ever have another one. |
 Bless your heart!!! I have only heard men describe them and it's awful. Drinking lots of water sounds like it would help. Hope you will be OK. Can you hurry home and take that Lortab?? I would!! Please keep us updated. |
OUUUUUUCH !! I've never had one but it sounds horrible....I just wanted to say good luck - can you get something for pain ??? I hope it's over soon :( |
That's terrible I hope it passes quickly. I've never had one but I've seen my husband go through it. He acted like he was in labor, oooh i felt so bad for him. He got in a warm tub and that helped. He was in and out of there all day. (((Hugs))) |
The Topamax that I take for my Migraines causes kidney stones... I passed three late last year... It was the worst Pain I have ever felt in my entire life!!!! I swear I wished for death with the third one! I would never wish that kind of pain on my worst enemy! Not that I have any. But you know what I mean! Its Awful pain... I'd rather have a thousand more babies before I pass another stone! Oh! this probably does not help much does it.... Sorry. The stone will work its way down into your pee pipe ;) and will block the flow. This causes immense pressure and pain. most of the pain comes from the sharp edges of the stone... picture a peach pit and all of its pointy edges, now see them as razor sharp! And traveling down a much too small pipe lined with nerve endings. Well.. that pressure build up will push it down the pipes and eventually push it out... but its a painfull trip! and when you pee... it will hurt like a b*tch to pee hard... but pushing it is the only way to get it out... so push it! Get it out! My dr had me peeing into a container so I could "Catch" the stone. If you are curious... you might want to try it... grab a bog cup or something... and use that... then pout it into a cheese cloth or a superf ine strainer... My docter gave me the container and strainer... it was a micro mesh... when the sone came through... there was NO MISTAKING IT! it was like a mini peach pit! It will look like a strange rock from Mars! I will tell you this.... The minute you pass it.... The clouds part, the sun comes out and the birds start singing!!!!! I swear! |
Kidney stones.... I have had kidney stones way too many times...they generally come from too either too much caffeine ((which will dehydrate you)) or ice tea is a big cause in women. The only real thing you can do is to keep drinking water and I found cranberry juice helps. After you pass it you will feel Much better..almost like it never happened. Good Luck! Kasey |
How are you doing?? Any relief yet? I hope so! |
Yikes! Kidney stones cut short my vacation in Florida several years ago. The pain is intense. Oddly, I never knew when I passed them, it was when they were hung up trying to get out of my kidney that I had the most pain. Good luck!!! |
I had two...one was small and passes. As it passed you felt the pain moving. They say when it pains that means its trying to move. I had alot of blood and pure pain. Way worse than child bearing. I was on the floor crying my eyes out. The second one was even worse...had to have surgery. I liked the surgery and pain meds much better...lol Make sure and drink lots of water after it passes, stay away from caffine and peanut type stuff. There is a whole list of foods to avoid but I forget them. Man... I feel for you. With my second one they said it would pass too, but the pain was sooooooo terrrible that I went back to the er and the next morning they took it out. Good Luck...I'll pray for you! |
I drove home.... I am home now......and a break in the pain...hubby bought me a beer, since that makes you pee.......and I don't drink beer normally......well, it only made me sleepy......but, stone must have shifted....so I am having a break for a few minutes.... I drove home from Knoxville to Nashville....praying the whole way that it would quit hurting...LOL........I am really nervous that the pain will return....and I am SURE it will..... My friend just passed two at Halloween...she said Toradol was what the doc prescribed and it was great and she passed them herself....so, off to the doc in the morning.....I am so nervous that the pain will come back tonight when the doc is closed...... Thanks for the well wishes.....I think I will go lay down....:) |

Sometimes they just stop where they are and don't move again for a long time or ever. It they are tiny enough, you may not know exactly when it passes, but in a short amount of time you will begin to feel relief. I've had 3 surgeries, 10 lithotripsies, and still have 18 stones that can be seen on the xrays. I'm sorry you are having to endure this. I know it is really tough. Childbirth, I'd rather have 3 or 4 in a row instead of this pain. I wish you good luck and a quick resolution. I'll send up a prayer for you. When it is over, you are going to need to rest for awhile to get your strength back. |
