Any Good Magazines?? I just got a fundraiser in the mail from my nephew. His school is raising money for new computers or something like that....... The fundraiser if for magazines ((no I am not asking anyone to buy one)) - I just didn't know which ones were good. What magazines do you read? My daughter had all the "teen" ones - teen vogue, seventeen, etc. - so she doesn't need anymore. There are so many out there, that I didn't know which ones to get -- I just hate the thought of ordering some and then not liking any of them! There's cooking: Home Cooking, Cooking Light, Taste of Home, etc. There's Dogs: Dog Fancy, Dog World, etc. Travel, house and garden, cars, crafts, oh my............... So, post your favorite magazines for me (please). THANKS!!!! |
I'm a guy.. so most of my subscriptions (Details, GQ, etc.) won't interest you. What about Martha Stewart Living? I get that and I really enjoy it.. I like all the themed decorating and recipes. |
:D Of course Dog Fancy, but I also love taste of home!!!!:D |
Cool! Thanks! ((I am going to get 4 different magazines)) I like Martha Stewart - I watch her show just about everyday. I will have to see if that one is on the list. I was leaning towards the Taste of Home one too. I think my grandmother use to get this one, but I am not sure - I guess I could look it up and see. Is this the one w/ simple and easy family recipes? Dog Fancy is the one I pick up at PetsMart every now and then. I like it too - it does have some good info, doesn't it?! I know there was one "organic gardening" or something like that, but I do not know if I would really use that or not - it sounds good though! hee,hee They have all the "newstand" ones - like People, Us Weekly, etc....but I don't know if they would be worth the money - maybe a good treadmill read?? |
i really like domino magazine for interior decorating, and bazaar andvogue for fashion. shape is also a good magazine for exercise and diet. |
Okay, they do have the Martha Stewart Living - BUT no domino or bazaar - they do have vogue and vanity fair though. I wonder what Outdoor Life would be?? Does anyone know? I guess I need to close some windows and start looking up magazines, huh? |
do they have Bark??? really good dog magazine!! so is National Geographic Travel!! |
Mine too! My gradma also used to get taste of home!!! Yes....easy to follow receipes things that my family enjoys. None of the fancy receipes that you have a hard time finding the ingredients!:D |
how about 1 from each category. For sure I personally like Cosmo, Dog Fancy, any gardening or home book, Martha Stewart is good too. Whatever your hobbies are, you sure won't go wrong. |
The one's I get are: Cooking Light Real Simple Coastal Living I love all three. I also tend to pick up In Style at the grocery pretty often. |
Dog world, Bark, Dog Fancy, Dogs, US weekly and In Touch are some of my favorites. I also love National Geographic. |
I think Outdoor LIfe is mostly hunting and fishing and things like that |
My favorite doggie mag is definately BARK...its a fun book...of course I love dog fancy too but Bark is a better read any more.. Dawn |
I like Bark more than Dog Fancy as well. Women's Health is another good one for overall living. Other than that, I get Yoga Journal, FitYoga, YogaLife, Mind + Body + Spirit Fitness, and PilatesStyle. Can you tell I'm a yoga and pilates instructor?? |
Whole Dog Journal and Bark are my dog magazines. I'm not a Dog Fancy fan. I like Cooks Country and I got a new Martha Stewart Everyday Food magazine that I kind of like. I also got the new Rachael Ray Mag and so far it's OK but not great. I love Rachael Ray, but the magazine feels like filler. |
I read Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan but I like Fashion, etc sooo I dunno. |
My favs. are Cosmopolitain (it's like my bible!) and Instyle (that's also my bible!) |

I am upset there is no Bark magazine on the list - so many of you have said good things about it! I am definitely going to look it up and get that!!! I forgot about Rachel Ray, but it was NOT on the list either!!!:thumbdown And there is only the Martha Stewart Living - but I can go for that one! |

My daughter is the "fashion" one, so I might bypass those for now. She gets all the "teen" versions of most of those. |

The Cooking Light - what is that like? That was one of the first ones I picked when I started this topic. Are recipes easy and easy to find ingredients? Do they talk about tips and hints too or is it just recipes? I am really interested in this one and I am glad that someone else gets it! |
Cooking Light is the best! If I could only have one magazine subscription, that would be my pick. The recipes are great. They usually have a few slightly more complex ones that accompany articles to introduce you to a new cuisine or ingredient and they have two sections every month that I personally use the heck out of- Dinner Tonight and Superfast. Both sections have easy, fast and delicious recipes. It's not all food though. They always something on exercise, beauty and travel. They have a website cookinglight.com that would help you get a good feel for it. As far as Taste of Home- my grandmother gets that one. It does have good recipes but they are not the healthiest and, no offense meant to anyone, I promise, but they are a little old fashioned to me. Also if I'm remembering correctly, it is just recipes and stories behind the recipes. |
Thanks Nikki! Cooking Light will definitely be one that I get! I am all for recipes and if they are healthy, that is a big PLUS! -- course, if they are quick and easy, that is a big plus too! (ha) |
I like InStyle, Lucky, Real Simple, Vogue and Runner's World. |
