Snow Day! We got a snow day, we got a snow day, we got a snow day! I'm so excited (can you tell...), I don't have to go to work today because we had about 3" of snow this morning and it's still coming down! The place I work at is in a hilly area and my car would not get up the hills! Soooo, I'm staying home today; checking work email once in a while, but definately taking it slow!!! Whooohooooo! |
We are on a snow day too - here in central Texas - definitely not a usual occurrance!!! :D |
Yay! I'm happy for you! :D We don't get any snow days here. :( |
Yep, we got a "bad weather" day here too. I commute from Brenham to College Station for work. The University is closed today. I think it might be more for the students since they were supposed to start up again today and a lot might not be able to get back from wherever they were staying during the holidays. We're waiting to hear if tomorrow is called off too. I was just telling my husband that we must be such weanies! If it's even the slightest bit icy outside, schools are cancelled and a lot of businesses close. Granted, I don't want to drive an hour on bad roads if there's the smallest chance they will be icy but there are other states that have this kind of weather half the year and you don't see them staying home every day! It's just that we don't know how to drive in it, I guess. Oh well, you won't hear me complaining. I'm getting paid to stay home AND saving gas money!! |
You are so right - they cancel school if there is the slightest chance of bad weather/roads. The problem is that people here don't know how to drive on ice/snow - so you take your life in your own hands when venturing out on the roads. I grew up driving on ice/snow - and I used to be able to drive on anything - but I just don't get out here in Austin because everyone else drives sooo crazy  |

I go to Austin quite often because my best friend and sister-in-law (and families) live there but you'd NEVER catch me driving there when it's icy. Those hills!!! Some of them are doozies even withOUT ice. My nephews just called about an hour ago to tell my kids that they were playing in the snow (in Austin) and to rub it in that we just have nasty sleet and they get snow! I think the last time it snowed in Brenham was around 1996 when my daughter was two. Even then I don't think it was sticking. I'm enjoying the time off work so no complaining here! :D |
aww we never have snow days :( |
