On my initial visit I had to fill out paperwork and express what I hoped to get out of my treatment. She sat down and talked with me for about 10 minutes to find out what problems I was having and what I would like corrected. Then she did a lot fo range of motion tests with me, as well as reflexes. She took 2 xrays of my neck and shoulders, which is where my complaints were. After that, she had me lie down and she did an assessment of my spine, by pressing down on certain areas, as well as checking my ribs. Really, on my first visit, she did nothing but a thorough exam to find out exactly whether or not she could help me. I thought that was really professional, in that she wasn't eager to treat me until she knew whether or not she could help me.
Then, 2 days later on my 2nd visit. She went over my x rays as well as a packet she had put together for me, specific to me. There were diagrams of the spine and she had circled exactly where my problem areas were and what body functions were associated with them. I never knew that so much of our health issues could come from our basic spine and posture. The areas she circled for me, were very specific to head and sinuses, which are the types of problems I have been experiencing. So, after sitting down with me, reviewing her findings and discussing with me her plan (9 wks and beyond), she had me lie on a massaging bed for 5 mins, I think it's called a compressor, not sure. Then she did a few adjustments, that's the cracking and popping. I was a little scared, but she talked me through it and told me exactly what she was doing. Basically, the popping you hear is the releasing of gas between the vertabrae.
So, all in all, I have been very happy so far. She said it is going to take a little bit for me to actually feel the results, so I just have to be patient. Hope this helps! :) |
