No Water? I went to turn on my sink this morning and no water came out. That would happen if the water in the pipes froze over night, right? When the water unfreezes it should work properly, right? Sorry for the question, my bf is out of town and of course something happens. :) |
What did your temps go down to? If there are pipes on the outside walls you can try warming them with a hair dryer. You do not want those pipes to burst |
If the water froze in your pipes -- when they thaw you will have a HUGE PROBLEM!. Water expands when it freezes cracking pipes. I have had enough frozen/cracked pipes so that now any time out temp gets below 32 for very long I wrap all outside pipes :). As the pipes start to that you get all sorts of shooting water fountains  :thumbdown |
Uh oh... hmm... I guess I need to figure out where the pipes are. Last night I wrapped the hose pipes so they wouldn't burst but my bf told me I didn't need to worry about the other ones. I guess it is time to go investigate. |

Well right now Weather.com says it is 28 degrees outside - it's about 7:30 now, so it probably got pretty cold last night. |
If you live in an apartment I would call the landlord....If your pipes are frozen you really don't want them bursting all over the place...They have heat wraps that you can wrap around your pipes...we have one in our garage...we put a glass of water in the garage in the winter...when we notice that it is starting to freeze we plug in the wrap. Good Luck! |
Nope, we are in a house - No luck with a landlord. But I'm calling his dad now to walk me though the steps of correcting the issue. :) |
Alright, well my bf's dad said to turn the hot water on to push the hot water though and then tonight when I go to bed he said I should leave the cold water running a bit so it doesn't freeze up again. |
Our water is working again! I left the hot water faucet on for a while and 3 hours later it finally came on. I'll be leaving the water on a bit tonight to just so the same thing doesn't happen! |
I am so very glad that you didn't have broken pipes -- a good steady drip will do the job :) |

If you pay for your water this is going to get costly...I would talk to your husband about those heated wraps I spoke of...they really do work..we have never had a problem...Good Luck! |

I know, but he's out of town right now - he'll be back Monday. We don't get this weather often. But I'll mention it to him when he calls. |
Im sorry this happened to you, been there and it sux. when the weather is going to be really cold its always best to leave just a drip running from your hot and cold tabs. running water is harder to freeze. good luck. |
