Individual Dental Insurance??
 
Can anyone point me in a good direction???

I NEEEEED to get dental insurance, and i'm getting health insurance through blue cross and blue shield, but they dont offer a ppo dental insurance, so i have to look somewhere else.

But I am sooo lost?? Nothing makes sense to me, I dont want to make a bad choice.

Anyone out there understand the insurance world?

I don't know what occupation you are in but occupation related associations are a good place to look for group dental plans. In my experience, most of these individual plans don't do much better than dental discount programs. I have one that I use for supplemental and it does not pay much unless you have major work done like a crown, that is when you get your money's worth. If your teeth are in good shape and you don't anticipate much restorative work beyond fillings, I would suggest pricing out a dental discount plan. Good individual dental insurance is hard to find unless you are part of a group like with an employer's plan. I work in the insurance industry and have had lots of experience looking for plans when I was self-employed. You can PM me if you have questions. If you are self-employed, you might consider joining the national association for the self-employed. They have fairly good group health and dental plans.

They don't offer it really? I always thought they did. I can't remember who my dental was through from them, let me think

I dont have insurance through my company.. we are too small. But they are paying any individual coverage I choose.

SO I want to get a good one. I have Blue Cross and blue shield for health insurance, but they dont offer a ppo for dental. And I already have a preferred dentist.. and oh man, why is this so complicated??

Its all greek to me :confused:

I don't get it either. I have to self pay everywhere I go because I can't afford to pay $500+ a month for insurance with a $1500 deductible. It's just absurd.

I thought though that when I priced Regence Blue Cross Blue Shied I could get insurance as an individual. I'm not sure what ppo dentist means, so sorry I can't be more helpful.

I'll ask around.

Oh I think it was Delta Dental or Metlife...

Yeah, apparently it sucks for people wanting to get individual coverage.
PPO just means i can pick the dentist that I want rather than pick from a list of dentists.

Delta and metlife are all for group/company :(

oh bummer, sorry. My dentist doesn't accept discount plans :( but they've been nice enough to let me make monthly payments.
